After 9/11 our workman's comp rep came to do a safety talk to the electrical company I worked for.
His speech went something like this: "When people pay their premiums we (the insurance company) add it to our big mountain of money. Well when bad people do bad things like what happened last week (I think that time is right) our mountain of money gets wiped out. We don't like that, so y'all need to make sure and work safe so we can get our mountain of money back."
Why the shag does any working slob give a poopie about some one else's mountain of money, when he ain't got one? Worse so, after 9/11 that idiot didn't have one sympathetic thing to say about the victims.
My opinion of insurance companies has never recovered. Only got worse after I got laid off my job a few years back. Called my life insurance rep and arranged a meeting to change to a policy I could actually afford. Meeting goes fine, new policy is signed and paid for with a check. Instead of canceling my previous policy my agent let's it but my bank account the following month which was tapped out (not to mention the nasty NSF fee I got slapped with too).
I called him up livid and asked why he didn't cancel it. He said it's their SOP to only cancel policies after 3 months unpaid premiums.
Needless to say I barged into his office and acted like a lunatic until his boss got involved. I got my money back and he changed careers.
They are shaging crooks all of them.
