Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Ive had the same problems. A number of people of reverb hit me up with shipping requests and yada yada, talked all serious until I do all the research for prices and packaging and then ghosted. Smack talkers.

has anyone seen Lo-Pan with the new guitarist?

My wife's car got totaled by a driver who ran a red light into traffic. We had to pay up all the bills at the time, in hopes that insurance would quickly pay up due to the OBVIOUS liability by the other driver, who had good insurance. Even though there were 3 witnesses, one of which was the driver in her oncoming lane who was stopped at the red light, and a police report finding her at fault...her insurance said they don't think she's liable and aren't paying up. So we have to go to arbitration, which will take another 3-6 months.

All of which is to say, I emptied out all my gear savings again and we're still going broke and I have two Duallies. So....

I honestly don't understand American insurance and healthcare systems.. the insurance company can overrule the police report? that's fvcking ridiculous.

Sorry to hear that Corey, hopefully it all gets taken care of.

Kid at the camp out could roughly pet leela and not even receive a scolding nip. I try to gently pet sometimes and she bites lol. The kids two favorite toys were Leela and that handle of rum behind her she'd carry with her inside the "cabin".

Nothing much to add to the gear talk... Fuzz face and range master and pedal boards needed, and the parts to get the bass vi pimped out. Might sell all my full scales and get a second pickup added to the bronco.

I had to dropped the ol lady off at her job at the kennel this morning and a lady was dropping off her dogs for day care. Two Australian Cattle Dogs, one blue and one red, both super fat and sweet.

Our new puppy Violet has got me totally wrapped around her paw. She is just the right mix of playful (without being obnoxious most of the time), independent (our other dog insists on being RIGHT ON TOP OF A HUMAN at all times) and sweetly affectionate. She will literally grab my face with both front paws and pull me in for a kiss. She doesn't use her tongue really, but just kind of bumps noses with me and gently puts my nose in her mouth. I know this doesn't sound doom, but it melts me.

Curious about what all guitars and basses you own. All I've seen is the Bronco, that Lyon tele-type and a Squier Strat and some acoustic (IIRC you were flipping or selling the Strat & acoustic...)

Sometimes I envision you with a massive fleet of basses.

Yeah! Stick a GZR in that Bronco!

PS-- Any of you guys dig Darkstar pickups? Not thinking about getting one, but a few years back they were all the rage. I remember seeing all kinds of basses routed for Darkstars. Now I hardly ever hear about them. Did they just jump the shark or did people decide they weren't that special?

I just learned that our new pup is half Australian Cattle Dog (the other half Lab.) I didn't realize a Blue Heeler was the same thing as an Aussie Cattle Dog.

Invalid Link Removedhese are just pics I found online, but Violet looks pretty much identical to this puppy (but with more white on her chest and belly) :

And I figure when she's full grown she'll look something like this:

We still have one of the pups from the second Cockeranian litter. The first litter came out looking like mini Cocker Spaniels but this litter took much more of the Pomeranian traits, so pretty small but tougher/bulkier then a Pom it looks like a micro yellow Labrador and I just can't see it getting rehomed. The Cocker is fixed so no more breeding those two. People were asking to buy her but I don't want to give her up LOL.

When you guys select a vinyl house, do you get to specify the paper for the jacket and sleeve? Sucks when you get a new LP and the sleeve is already ripped because the paper is so cheap, and you can tell that both the jacket and sleeve will destruct with any kind of handling.

The way it typically works here with insurance is they deny whatever claim you make and force you to try super hard to get compensated, hoping that the inconvenience will make you give up. In this case it's someone else's insurance, our auto insurance is fine, but there's certain things they don't cover and quite honestly, the person who caused all the damage should be paying for EVERYTHING as it is. I'm sure how that works is our insurance company is hitting them up to cover their costs. We're just trying to get the other driver's insurance to cover our deductible, medical expenses and a maybe a little settlement for pain and suffering for all the bullsh*t of having to deal with all this. The crux of it all is them denying liability makes us send it to arbitration or sue them. We're doing the former, as it's free. Either way it's adding months and months to this whole process. I'm sure all that is on purpose. Even our insurance assumed they would pay out immediately. Their excuse was that since the driver was 80% through the intersection when the collision occurred, my wife should have 80% of the liability, after her deductible with OUR insurance, which makes no sense at all. She didn't run through a yellow light trying to make it, she ran through a stale red light at full speed, into 4 lanes of traffic and there was nowhere for anyone to swerve to avoid her, except onto a sidewalk, so everyone hit their brakes and my wife is the one that took the hit. The driver claimed she didn't think the light was red and never changed her story.

It'll get sorted out eventually, but in the meantime I don't want the expenses racking up interest on my credit card.

a lot of places let you choose how you want to package your records. it's only about $50 more to upgrade from the stock paper.

That's shaging infuriating. I hope it all works out.
