Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

The Daddy-O finally arrived! Looks a little grimy, but sounds great. It's ever so slightly bassier than the one I got from GC yesterday. I'll keep the bassy one, maybe mod the other or sell it to a guitarist buddy of mine. I really don't get why people are modding these, though. It sounds great stock! And speaking of mods, the GC one is definitely modded. It's got a big green cap on the bottom of the PCB that the other one doesn't have. Oh well, still sounds good. Maybe that's the slight bass difference? Regardless, it's not much, and many people wouldn't even notice. Anyway, back to woodshedding!

I got the lipid panel scare big time 10 years ago at age 29 when the result of a free screening at work indicated that my blood was chemically indistinguishable from nacho cheez sauce. I did the "south beach diet" which is pretty similar to what you describe, with lots of biking to work and running. I went from 235 lbs to 195 lbs in about 4 months, felt awesome. I set and stuck to the goal of "no beer until 195". 3 years later I was back to 220 and have bounced around there since.

Yeah, I figure that if I'm super strict about the food aspect and exercise daily I can have 1 beer day a week. I'll go out with friends maybe 1 time a month (or less), I don't think that's as big of a problem as the daily 1-3 that I've been having at home. Going to get some Omega 3 supplements, eat right and exercise - we'll see how it goes.

Seriously, I love pork. All pork. All of it. I wont eat tail or feet or snout, but the cheeks can be good.
In the south, we eat hog jowls often.

I was vegetarian for almost 5 years. Once we discovered my youngest was allergic to nuts, we started eating turkey and chicken again. Beef and pork are extremely rare for us to eat, outside of pork breakfast meats. My wife can't eat steak anymore either. It's like instant food poisoning for her now

I'm trying to change up my diet right now too. The food at college was decent for uni food, but WAY too much sodium, and my family already has high blood pressure. Going to try reducing the red meat, dairy, starches (at least white breads, though I can never wholly give up sour dough) and fried food, up the seafood and white meat and spinach intake. I'm pretty happy to be back on the west coast, I can start eating all the oysters on the half shell I can get my hands on.

Also, STOUTS FOR LYFE. But I've also started to really appreciate Scotch Ales...

Scotch ales can be freaking amazing. There's a brew pup in town that makes one that just tastes incredible, dark, fruity, complex, chocolate and caramel flavors... they don't tell you that it's like 12% ABV. Had most of a pitcher once and was seriously impaired.
This is a great illustration of where my drinking interests lie now.
My wife and I like to have a hard cider on occasion but after spending so much time with dark beers over 8%ABV the ciders are like drinking apple juice.
Thanks below I live in a region where every brewery makes something and stiff.

If things sort out right with work I may have time to home brew.
Might be more exciting to me than starting another band. Maybe.

When I go out drinking, I usually ask for whatever's darkest on tap now. Or I look for the highest ABV on the menu. What I would REALLY like to start showing up in Washington is Founders Brewing. They have some fantastic beer, especially their Breakfast Stout and their Scotch Ale. Alas, no distribution here yet.

I was homebrewing at school (it was a club, so it was all on the school's dime too), and ended up with a bunch of the gear that the club president forgot to pickup before we all left, so I have a nice glass carboy, bottling bucket and brew kettle now. Gotta start up production again, want to try either a vanilla stout or blueberry stout at some point.

Also, anyone ever had Caribou? Cause that stuff is goddamned tasty.

Never had caribou, but I've had moose! It was in Sweden, and they were tacos. One of the strangest things I've ever eaten. Moose tacos. Not that they were bad, or odd, or anything negative, just that I was in Sweden, eating home made tacos. Made from a moose. Just plain weird.

guys.. i just sold a pedal and bought a Soviet watch. what's wrong with me?
