That seems more common in Canada, and elsewhere in the U.S. No basements in Texas. Some people have mother in law houses or a second/third story attic conversions for rent though around universities and urban areas.



Don't buy a brand new orange to turn it into something it's not.

I'm willing to bet you have a friend or musical acquaintance with an SVT, or maybe even a v4 to try. If not I've never been to a guitar center in my life that didn't have an svt 810 stack with a massive price tag standing proudly at the center of the bass nook.

I think ampegfuzz is right you could get away with using a v4, but a v4 preamp isn't an svt preamp in a lighter package. It's a baxandal but different frequencies are attenuated by the controls. At least in the old ones. That said if you love the Early Ewiz tone the most and know he uses a pretty basic svt rig and muff, I wouldn't stray far from that. Why spend more on an orange, then spend more turning it into something else to cop a tone he didn't have. Svt you know you'll have the power and the tone you hear on most records from country to doom at your disposal.

Also I don't know why you have to do sweetwater exactly, but if it's just for the layaway go look at pawn shops too. I bet one might have an svt or other cool head.

Guitarists use power soaks, but I would never recommend using one for bass.

Weber makes some rates to 200W. I asked about it previously for my 2000s to lower it to more appropriate apartment levels and got this same response with little actual explanation. I guess the Sunn approaches that limit a little to closely, but wouldn't those models fare well with a v4/V4B?

Also curious about the lows. Would have been more cool with a boost knob and a DI out. Maybe they'll come out with an ad200 pre box.

Maybe.

That is the best answer you can really get. An amp driven in to distortion puts out way more than it is rated for, and that turns in to heat in a power soak. All it takes is a failure due to being heated up, for the amp to be toast.

IMHO if you are looking at getting power tube break up, you either need smaller amps, or higher volumes.

Our GCs are terrible! I pretty much only buy used from them, and even then, the staff doesn't know anything. I was checking out a delay pedal a few weeks ago and the guy said he loved the pedal, even had the button for it on his lanyard. Then, when it started going into "psycho-freak-out mode" (which is an advertised feature of the pedal) he said it was broken and got me a new one to try out. It did the same thing, which perplexed him. Guy didn't know squat.

Anyway, the one good thing about STL GCs, for me at least, is that they never sell GK. They stock it, it just sits. So every time I try something out, they always have my identical rig! That's pretty nice!

I was selling some stuff to the local GC (just needed the money and didn't have time to mess around with CL), had the "amp guy" ask me if my Hartke HA2500 (super clean, 2 years old) was "vintage" - "cuz if it's vintage I'll have to call our guys in California to get an estimate."

Damn I avoid guitar center and shop online because the ones around me are so limited in stock, and they have an svt or two, some special edition stuff like the v4 and b15. all the gk and peavey stuff. A real good squire collection is what's a plus to me though. don't think they sell it anymore, but u used to always try everything through the acoustic 100 head into 1x10 made to look like a micro 360 stack.

I don't like sales people, so if I'm in there I move fast and have my escape excuses at the ready.

If I liked the pedal, I would have. But the "broken" part of it was about half of the settings. And I didn't like that feature. I basically tried that out just to narrow my focus and see if I wanted that pedal or a different one. It was definitely a different one.

Dan-echo is pretty cool, not very crazy, but sounds good. I think @Squanch72 used to have one.

I have the 18v chorus and its thick and sounds cool, I wanna try its stereo out, it's based on the Roland jazz chorus, so I think one outputs dry and ones wet.

I had the El-cheapo plastic Fab-Echo. It just did slap back but you could set it where it just acted like a reverb pedal and sounded really nice for a $15 dollar pedal. You can mod it to have a time setting too.

Made my first batch of Kava Kava last night. First five ounce shot equaled euphoria, mental clarity, and muscle relaxation. Got greedy and did another five ounces about 20 minutes later and relaxed so much I fell asleep on the couch though it was close to bedtime anyway and Sarah had Sherlock Holmes on and that is such a busy show it ends up being boring to me so I was just chilling anyway. Can't wait to try more tonight. Made some up for my boss as she has the pill form and she wanted to try the real deal. Brought her two pints in to take home. I explain how much to drink for when she got home tonight, she pops the top right away and has nipped half a pint already. Her and the ol' lady don't seem to be feeling anything from it though. I must be a cheap date.

I think for some people it takes a couple of tries for it kick in. Also, people need to know what to expect (or what not to expect).

I read about that. And I made it the most weak you can just in case. I was glad I felt something quick at a low dose, very promising. I had a super stressful day and it did what I really wanted it to do and that was relax my mind and muscles. I read a lot of reviews to find a good vendor and batch of root so I already narrowed it down that it would most likely work.

The Tempe AZ Guitar Center strongly resembles this description. Overall inventory of everything seems to be shrinking. I am seeing nothing that makes me doubt the swirling rumors of the impending GC collapse.

In Richmond VA the GC and Sam ASH are right next door to each other. It's kind of comical as GC's side wall that faces Sam Ash's side wall is written in gigantic letters we match anyone's prices ha ha ha. I love being able to shop at both especially the used pedal bins but lately with the rumors I keep thinking do the guys that work at GC wish they had applied to Sam Ash or are trying to make the switch already.

my local GC has told me they are no longer stocking any new bass gear. Once what they have on the floor is gone, they wont have anything. They will order, but wont carry inventory. They are pretty much at the lower limit of cheapo guitars to keep their contracts too.

I see that sort of stuff in my local GC, but then they just remodeled! They added lesson space, I guess they're hoping to pull in money that way now.

Not the one by me. I was in there a week ago, and they are pushing accessories it seems. Stands, strings, quick grabs. Things people walk in and out for.
