Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Speaking of tunes...does anyone dig Earth as much as I do? I realize this is old news.

I like their earlier work (which Sunn0))) ripped off so effectively) but damn...Bees Made Honey In The Lion's Skull and the first volume of Angels of Darkness are among my favorite albums released in the past 15 years.

if you're into the drone/noisey stuff check out a friend of mine.

For me it depends. Dealing with poopiee tone doesn't hinder my creativity, but it does cause me to write in almost unpredictable directions. Like I can't doom right if my tone is off, but I can still riff something that seems to fit that tone.

Pretty much this. But I've played a few practice amps that were so bland nothing new came from them and nothing sounded good through them.

Keith Richards said something along the lines of he wrote everything on acoustic guitar, because of it sounded good unplugged it would for sure sound good cranked up... Think he has a point, but that he also probably wasn't thinking of Eyehategod when he had that in mind.

Successfully cut out an amp and a cab from PVYHenge with no loss of overall amazeballness. Running 2 amps and 3 cabs. Straight into da Mace with Phase Wizard for full out amp boostage into my 218. And BlueBear-D))) stacked with Lucifuzz into Cathedral into Mrk3 Musician pushing an 810 and folded 18. Much more simple setup than 3 heads = less shvt to go wrong and LESS TO MOVE.

Still able to physically henge the cabs but the heads will sit on the floor now, no biggie.

Hot Damn.

EDIT: Holy **** this good. The Falconist!!!
Wow. This is worth losing sleep over.(No pun intended.)

Speaking of losing sleep, new stress just showed up, and I'm having some coping issues. So it's great to hop in here and hear new tunes or read about y'all endeavoring' onward.
Really afraid of the jinx on this so I won't talk for a while, just need good vibes.

You folks stay cool alright??

Holding good thoughts for you. Hope things level out. It's been my experience that as you age, you are swamped more and more by avalanches of stress and bullchit. It shouldn't be that way.

Sometimes I feel like the universe is pointing its finger at me and saying "Ah...there's a guy trying for little stabs at happiness even though he's already got more than he can handle on his plate. Time to throw him a few dozen more curveballs to juggle and deal with."

The only thing that gets me through is my family, being able to blow off steam now and then by playing, hanging out here and trying to remember that most of the negative/overwhelming stuff IS just BS that will (hopefully) blow over or not have long-term effects.

There are seriously times when I just want to get rid of everything and go live in a shack and get into subsistence farming. Drop out entirely.

Squanch, another group to check out is Tarentel, They're very prolific and pretty varied. Beauty for Ashes might be a good place to start. Not exactly what you described, but in the ballpark of Grails.

Good stuff, thanks Jan. Thanks for looking too Sam. Man I love putting on Grails at night before bed. Even bands that have a touch of this stuff works for me. I dig King of Frogs Island for their touch of krauty oddness.

Wishing you good vibes @mbelue

Living off the grid in an earthship somewhere in AZ or NM always sounds nice to me then I worry I am just too lazy and would die out there or turn into the guy in Child of God. Kava Kava has been cheering me up a bit on the days I don't have full blown eyestabbers, helping me turn off my worrying mind and helping me say aw furck it who cares more.
