Damn. So much stuff just on the last couple pages of this thread that is new to me and I need to check out...

I really did like Grails. I missed a chance to see them a few years back.

To go back to High On Fire, I was supposed to see them in New York in 2008 or 2009 with Dethklok and Mastodon, but ended up not being able to make it.

Hell, now that I think of it, I haven't been to a show since 2013. But that was the Northwest Black Circle Festival, so...good times.

Recording of MDT EP 2.0 began in earnest last night. We got a new zoom 8 track recorder, replacing the antiquated one we used on Styrofoam Tombstone. Got the new rig & mics set up and, after a half dozen or so takes, got drums tracked for one song. Progress!

On a happier note the office sexytery was leaving with both hands full but had put too much lotion on her leg, and needed me to rub the extra in the back of her leg before she headed out the door. So some days ain't all bad I suppose

I would be rubbing that lotion one way or another...

Think I got my Greyscale Devices Hellcat traded for an EQD Ghost Echo. Always wanted to try one of them out. It probably sounds better on guitar but maybe it will be cool on bass too.

Forgot to mention that I got a Zoom H1 recorder from my parents for my Bday. Quick recorded a song at GH practice last night with the low cut on and auto level on. It was actually decent, you could hear everything really well, even the kick. I think with some toying around finding the correct input level manually, we'll actually be able record some decent lofi demo recordings. Which will be great for learning vocals and make tighting up songs way easier.

New pedal rig. Lots of opportunities & combinations going on. I go through periods of needing "more" or "less." Clearly, this rig falls under the former category. The gigs MDT has lined up for July/August all have plenty of stage space so I figured I'd expand a bit. Only pedal I'm not sure of right now is the bass-modded DS-1 after the synth and RM; I may go with something with a clean blend in that spot so I can get a little bit more of that clean weirdo signal through. Might de-list the El Oso, which has a clean blend.

Man GC needs to update their online used sales. Whenever it is under new arrival you get a store clerk and he is like uhm I don't see that one then they have to go get the manager yadda yadda yadda. It was worth the stumpjumpery though as I landed a used MXR Slash Octave Fuzz for $89 shipped. Missed that pedal since I sold it and they seem to go for around $125 used usually. I keep coming full circle on pedals. I always sell to try different stuff but there were a few that sounded good right off the bat and I should of stopped my search right there.

And they're so proud of it that there's ZERO mention of their Midwestern origins anywhere on their websites. I had to find an SFweekly article to confirm their Davenportish heritage. Not that I don't trust you Ampegfuzz, but I'm sure you understand one is a bit surprised to hear that a band from the Quad-Cities, like, um, WENT somewhere.

I will NEVER hide my Davenportish origins! Iowan and proud! You can take the boy outta Da Port but you can't take the Da Port out of the boy!! QC REPRAZENT! D-PORT IN THE HAYY-YYOWSE!!

In other news Hex Volt is doing a short-notice charity show TONIGHT, it will be our first appearance at the venerable Yucca Tap Room. We're playing with a few locals plus North (from Tucson) who are kicking off a west coast tour. I'm pleased to have snagged the gig because the organizer is one of the main promoters in town for underground heavy stuff and it would be nice to get into his rotation. I hope we don't cock it up too badly!!!
