And I have never heard of a Dually bruning up drivers because of lack of air flow, or heard of one vibrating an SVT off of it at moderate levels due to lack of bracing. Oh, and the design is set. No one off builds depending on the builders mood.

the good news is even if the head fell off, itd only fall about 7 inches lol.
Looks like tonight's band practice has changed to a band meeting to discuss our long-delayed demo and general airing of grievances.
I hope it's productive, there's been some more BS that I'm not happy about in the last couple of days and I have a hard time seeing myself continuing in the band at this point.
I just want to plug in and play - where did the fun go?

I was bored the other day and decided to update my TB profile with every bass/amp/cab/and pedal I've ever owned....well at least the stuff I can remember owning.

For vertical 4x10s, or if you dont mind 12s or even a combination GASP!!!! Look for old PA towers...Peavey, Kustom/Kasino, Sunn, and many others made them. Most are pretty cheap, under $300 for a pair, but you may need to replace speakers for ones suitable for bass. They are super portable, I can fit a 8x12/8x10 in my small Ford Escort sedan.
I recently picked up a pair of Kustom 2x12+2x10s that I plan on making into 4x12s. $150 w/covers
I should try vertically stacking them once!!!
max you posted awhile back, i actually just got two of these huge 212 210 towers for our keyboards last week. how did they sound, how loud could you get them, do you happen to know the impedence of each cab? theres next to no info on line about them (model number is at the Kustom 2+2).
Hmm I wanted a vertical 4x10 but decided not to with a regular bass, but it might be pretty cool with my pignose head and bass vi, right in that not to bassy range for low mid bass to thick guitar tones and would fit in a corner easy enough.
Good luck man, I know you've had a lot of drama happening. I can sympathize, I haven't done anything with any band I'm in for something like 2 months minimum now.
Thanks Corey, I'm sorry to hear about your perpetual struggles with your projects. You're a good dude, talented musician, experienced with recording, no weird personal issues (that I know of), you deserve a better band that what you've been getting.
I appreciate you guys being a sounding board for my rants, probably should keep more of it to myself but my wife can only handle so much.
Other friends and co-workers have all just been telling me to quit, I think they're sick of hearing about it too.Good news is that my drummer and I are starting to schedule "auditions" for guitarists for the new project. First and best prospect is (hopefully) showing up a week from Monday - here's hoping it works out and we can hit the ground running. I have a good friend that's a really phenomenal rock/metal singer that's just itching to get out and play some music as well so that should work out well. I've got a hundred ideas and riffs in my head that need a place to go so we shouldn't lack for material.
Trying to keep that Positive Mental Attitude going.
Also - almost forgot to mention that Fender was in the building yesterday and I got to check out one of these bad boys:

I'm not a huge fender guy, but the American Deluxe Dimension is pretty damn slick. Some of the best fit and finish I've seen or felt on a bass, the neck was comfortable and fast, fretwork was superb. Are they non tuck and roll? If so you bought the same as me. To be painfully honesty, I wasted $700 on these cabs. I was hoping I could put new speakers in them and use them for guitar and bass. But from my experience these cabs just aren't deep enough to produce anywhere close to DOOM low end. Maybe they could be better if I spent some more time/money looking for speakers, and doing all the fancy graphs and what not. But I can't put anymore money into mine. My findings were if you played in a funk band that played as loud as a doom band or if you want to have the loudest fender twin in the world, they are cool cabs. Like I said way earlier, I find them much more portable than a standard 2x2 cab. But knowing how you guys sound hes gonna need another cab to handle the lows of the keyboards. But for running the highs, it'll be piercingly loud with some new speakers. Stock they are 8 ohms.
yeah im definitely not expecting crazy bass out of them, they are very shallow. i just want them for sheer volume, most of our keys are more like textural things that sit over top of the music, lots of highs and mids. rarely do the keys take up a lot of the low end as i handle most of that, the keys just add another layer.
not sure the difference between tuck and roll and non, they look identical to yours so im assuming weve got the same set. i got em for $220 so not a huge loss if theyre bad, but i imagine theyll work pretty well for what we're going for. and if the volume is there thats what we need.
I downloaded the newest WinISD and I was pleased to see that the plot on the cab design I came up with is pretty close to their recommended size for a sealed enclosure with 2 of the Eminence Legend CB15 drivers. I looked at them overlapping and it's not a big enough difference to warrant changing anything, but if I want to make it a little taller I know it won't hurt anything. I think my internal volume gets a little closer to the sound I want actually, little less in the sub range, little bump in the 90-120 Hz range, but it's a really small variation on the plot either way.
MINE: 50Hz (-8.233dB) 80Hz (-2.404dB) 100Hz (-.997dB) 200Hz (.025)
WINISD: 50Hz (-7.616dB) 80Hz (-2.409dB) 100Hz (-1.174dB) 200Hz (-.105)
Thanks...and no, no weird secrets lol. I think my number one problem is just not finding people that really want to do what I do. I have been able to network with lots of musicians, but usually they want to do something else more or maybe they're just kind of interested in the music I want to play as a side project. I need to put more effort into finding people by having a clear vision and good standards, that's why I'm trying to get my sh*t together with the solo material. It's a work in progress, not my highest priority lately since there's been a lot of personal stuff going on.
I'm giving advice that I myself should take and am not, but I'd just move on to something new. If people in the band are unsure or not on the same page, it's not likely to get better with time. Waiting around for things to change is kind of a fool's errand, being assertive and focused attracts assertive and focused people to your endeavors. That's my wisdom based on the results I've had from doing the opposite most of the time!

Well, I think that qualifies you to give the advice, having been through it all before. I put a lot of value in that.
So yeah, it's hard to imagine anything changing. We've been over it all so many times, it doesn't make sense to keep having the same discussions if I know nothing will change. I won't get into specifics about the poopie that went down this week, but it's the just the turd cherry on top of the poopie sundae. I'm really, seriously fed up and really, seriously disappointed. I can't even get mad about this crap anymore, it's just going to keep happening and I can either put up with it or walk. So I'm probably going to walk.
It's a shame, because the band is good, we're getting good offers (a lot of which weren't followed up on, much to my frustrated amazement) and people like us.

I believe the tuck and roll pa towers from Kustom are 412s and a bit deeper than our 212+210s and can actually provide bass frequncies. They have speaker cone area for sure though. Im turning mine into light boxes eventually because they are cool looking cabs, just not speaker cabs.
Yeah, true. It's just I've never bought a new cab, so saving up for a Dually (or two, rather) will take longer than I thought.
An alternative would be just getting 3015s or 15PR400s (leaning towards the latter) and sticking them in my 2000S cab, and building the second 2000S cab with them instead of the EVs I have set aside now for the project. I have no idea how similar that would be, though, and the size of the 2000S cab is still somewhat a problem (only bright side being that it's no deeper than the rest of the band's cabs, so the wall o' cabs is a uniform depth). I can't really model cabs, and have no idea where I'd even start to see if those speakers would work in my current cab.
Just one of my guitarists was musing on possibly getting an 8 string and tuning to F yesterday, and while I'm not going to re-tune (BEAD is and will remain my doom tuning), I don't want to be drowned out.
Probably more like the 70s Ibanez fakes. They were still great basses, but they don't cure Rickenbacker GAS.
Guitarist/lead singer trying to have his side project use the rehearsal space regularly without paying rent probably seriously diminished said fun.

Bump in the ~90hz range will punch people in the chest. Therefore, awesome.
Why not just rant about all of it, if you don't think the band meeting will change anything? Since you seem to have a good head on your shoulders, I'm sure we'd probably all agree with you that it's ******** being handed to you, so at least we could properly commiserate, or point out more problems with whatever poopie people are trying to pull now.
If you do walk, but you're keeping the drummer with you, though, that'll make starting a new group a hell of a lot easier.
