I'm sure it has become a thing, somewhere. Probably at big concerts in arenas and stuff like that. Kind of hard to do at small clubs. I imagine midwest and east coast heavy metal fans going to big concerts having a seamless transition from football games. Maybe a Crowbar show at the smallest.

I know this is in jest, but I seriously think it's a good idea. Beers, tailgate food, some t-shirt / sticker / vinyl swag. Have to get the OK from band management probably to avoid being shut down, but if you could do it legit I think there is a huge niche market here.

At some point tuned up yeah, but using it live? Probably not.

Actually none of my tuxedos are gonna be used live anymore, theyre just too old and finicky for the road. The Mace and the Mk3 Musician are the workhorses now. I have a Standard 260 thatll be a live back up, if we ever do lengthy tour.

I know this is in jest, but I seriously think it's a good idea. Beers, tailgate food, some t-shirt / sticker / vinyl swag. Have to get the OK from band management probably to avoid being shut down, but if you could do it legit I think there is a huge niche market here.

I think the bigger issue is getting the zoning licencing in all the different cities. I have looked in to what it would take to make a food truck work, and that is the biggest issue.

Yeah, of course we pre-game in the car before the show, but even that is a lot more difficult than it used to be at some venues.

The Rosemont has people out in force patrolling the parking lot looking for shenanigans.

It's all academic and a non issue for me anyway. I don't drink anymore and I almost never go to shows. In theory I would be down for a heavy metal tailgate party though.

That and selling booze from an interstate mobile unit sounds like licensing, tax and legal issues that would exclude most start ups and disinterest larger companies, both of whom would charge just as much as inside anyways

I had an idea about starting a food truck called heavy metal melts. Would mostly be philly steak type sandwiches. Different toppings are named after different musicians. Gimme a Iommi, all the way.

Have a couple of TV screens built in to it and an awning that comes down. PA speakers blasting whatever music... I don't know anyone with start up capital.

Yeah, this is too true. My wife and I have also looked into the whole food cart/truck dealio and came to the same conclusions. Some towns it's very open and relatively cheap to start up. Other towns they make it next to impossible.

Also, some states' health departments are run by county, others by city, still others have additional state regulations and permits.

Trying to do this across the country would be a logistical nightmare and probably too expensive to be workable.

On the other hand, if you had the right permissions and just set up in one location...some venue in some town with a hella lotta shows or something...

It was like the 2nd or 3rd time I went out drinking with my girl and her friends, who hit up the trendy party bars. NOT my scene, give me the dark woody dive that has a drunken old man in the corner and...

For $10 at my favorite bar, I can get two 60oz pitchers of beer, and that includes the tip.

Well we end up at a bar called Wolskis, its been around forever, much longer than these trendy party bars and it looks like my kinda bar but looks are deceiving...I go up to buy the next round with only $10 expecting to get a pitcher with tip. NOPE that one pitcher of pbr was $12. My jaw dropped and I retreated to ask for more money from my not even girlfriend...


And one of our bigger venues in town, The Rave/Eagles Ball Room, sells only Bud at $10 a cup. In MILLERwaukee, my head doesnt comprehend that.

Back in my teenaged punk rock days, we used to have big gulp cups and quarts in the car. Go back to the car and fill er up. Walk around with a "soda". Be wasted.

Yup. Since back then most places I hung around you could smoke in clubs too, we used to take pains to buy filterless Luckys or Pall Malls, take the tobacco out, mix it up with some ground up boosh, and re-pack it into the cigarettes. Probably more trouble than it was worth...

Got to swing by the practice space to grab the feedback looper. Hasn't worked right in about 3 months. Need to see if I can figure it out. Guitar player had some riffs on his phone and one was just straight noise with a little riff he does. I was like, we need a song like that. He goes, let's buy fed backer distortion pedals. Well my looper should be nasty enough. Just got to get it working.

In Albuquerque the burrito food trucks/carts would show up outside of venues downtown right around bar time. That fresh, piping hot beef and potato burrito with green and red chili in a fresh homemade tortilla was religious-experience level delicious.

I go to a couple bars directly across from each other that are both houses with the back yards open to drink in with pets. $3 fancy pints or $2.50 16oz pbr.

I will pay $4 for a pint at founder's tap room, but fuk you if you think I am paying $8.50 for it across the street.

This is why I love my local bar. $4 pitchers of domestic drafts. $3.50 mixed drinks which are easily a double pour. When we make a night of it, I go in with $10, get a double of jack and a pitcher.
