Naw, it was a rental cabin. But if we ever go up there again, if I remember, I will bring some new nylon strings and fix that baby up.
But speaking of family cabins and axes, I am beyond stoked to go visit my in-laws next weekend. You read that right. I'm lucky in that my wife's people are all good-time, party-down folks. When they aren't going through messy divorces. Or maybe ESPECIALLY when they're going through messy divorces?? In any case, my father in-law has got a sweet cabin up in the Blue Mountains of SE Washington state, and that sounds mighty nice with the temp currently at 112 here in AZ. It will be fun with our two boys, my wife's three sisters, their husbands, my wife's two step-brothers, their wives, and the total of eight rugrats ages 0-6 running wild.
Several years ago on one of my many family-visitin' trips up to Eastern Washington, I was feeling bored and a little flush, looked on the Tri-Cities Craigslist, and scared up an Epiphone bolt-on Les Paul and a super sweet old 70's Kustom SS 1x12" combo for CHEAP. The guitar is nearly disposable, but it was worth it for the amp alone. Just with the built-in gain, the thing sounds THICK. It dooms as hard as any 1x12" possibly could. This mini-rig now lives in the garage up at the father-in-laws cabin. What's awesome is that apparently my pop-in-law is perfectly entertained to sit and sip whiskey while I jam on Sabbathy riffage for half an hour. Of course, this is a guy who, when serving in the Navy in the mid-70's, was stationed in San Francisco and went to Winterland to catch bands every damn weekend while he was there. So I guess, while not a musician, he knows a thing or two about stony jams.
Oh man. I have played on uprights off and on throughout my life and get around pretty good on 'em..
I'd love to have one, but I just don't see it happening. Maybe if I was ten years younger.
The Eastern side of the gorge that runs across the Western third of Oregon and Washington states has some very interesting terrain.
Everything from riverland to mountains to painted high deserts.
Looking it up, but most links refer to the II which had a slider EQ. Anyone seen this one before?
Land o Traynor here. They're pretty common. Sunn destroyer. I had the Monoblock II and it was awesome. The B is very similar.
Except i haven't seen any of them around here for 3-4 years. I think there is some sort of embargo on them west of the rockies.
So was doing some research and found an instructable about the squier bass vi. The guy goes to ace hardware and got a piece of 1mm thick brass for a neck shim and a pair of brass fittings to go in the bridge post holes. All together a $6 fix that does what the mastery and stay trem do for much more. That and a pack of Kalliums got the guy an intimated buzz and overtone free full fledged bass apparently.
My idea now is to come across a second used bass vi in non white and do the DIY fix and Kalliums. Then the white one will still get the good parts and upgrades and mods and flats accrued over time.
Weekend clean up and craigslist posting time. Waiting on monoblock guy too.

Make sure you thoroughly play with that Traynor before you flip it.
If I luck into the traynor I'd have to compare it against my peavey musician and see what I think, might keep it or the peavey, can't have both.

So the M85 is pretty incredible. It's not subtle, and I wonder if I'll be able to pull off some cool low gain sounds, but holy shaging sh*t it sounds incredible. I might be ruined for other dirt pedals.
Also this happened:
Sounds shaging great. Flapped my pants, vibrated my eye juices and made my teeth chatter a little bit at different times over tonight's band practices.
Really pleased with my setup right now.

Ordered my guitar parts last night. Should be here Tuesdayish. Hoping to just have to replace pups, but I bought it all just in case. Still, it was only $60. So, total, $85 for a pretty decent guitar from the reviews. Now to wait...

Awesome. Micah used to think he was a werewolf, he believed that because he has neck happy trails and other kids his age don't have them. He would put on tantrums and give me a super hard time when I would shave them off so he was presentable. I am a werewolf, you can't do that Joe, how will I protect us at night.
