Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Happy Friday! Had a fun jam last night with some old bandmates. Lots of Kyuss, QOTSA and some assorted others. A little loose in some spots but solid for our first time playing together in over two years. This 2nd project definitely has legs.

TFR is pictured above but I ended up using the Turbo Rat more. The tone on the Dwarvenaut was glorious.

Guys gonna deliver a boss TR-2 for $25 to my office. Hopefully another dude gets back to me about a $60 gk backline 600.

I'll see what's up, probably flip/trade. I'm having a hell of a time to getting sales. I'm thinking this weekend I'll make a massive ad, picturing like 20 items and list prices and trade viability. See if I can get some stuff I'm gassing for, and quicker cash as all things can be viewed at once.

Yeah, the ODB-3 is really useful, I dig it a lot for a tight ovedrive/distortion tone. I had some high end rolled off there, but with it boosted and some pick playing it makes for a really nice grindy distortion tone. I'm going to play around with it a bit more soon to see if I can get a kind of round, tubby fuzzy overdrive out of it too.

WUT.

This is not a "Vintage Sunn 2000s Bass Cabinet". Or is it? It's not ported. Vintage Sunn 2000s cabs had a big horizontal port across the middle... right? What IS this thing? Did some doofus convert a real Sunn cab to a sealed cab by tearing the front apart and slapping a new baffle on it? Is this the biggest speaker cab on the planet with NO casters? It's FIFTY BUX and it's less than a mile from where I work....

It might be remotely possible that it was just hacked up A LOT, but it doesn't look like a 2000S or 200S cabinet. No front port, though the baffle looks like it's been replaced. There's some holes in the back that don't match up, but I guess those could have been cut. The strap handle isn't in the right place, but maybe that was removed/replaced. So it's remotely possible, but even if it ever WAS a Sunn 2000S, it's not now.
