Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Hey so I use a sunn 1200 looking at an avatar 210 with Delta Pro 10s 700 watt. at 4 ohms the head does 700.....but just wanted to hear some opinions? am i doomed to blow this? I play loud but have the compressor on and use a ratt pedal (which takes at the low end)

Is this for the home? I can't see a 2-10 ever working in a loud band. For $100 and some patience, you should be able to score an old 2-15.

+1 to @JoeVictim vis avis band use. I had the neo version of that cab and while it is a VERY impressive lil bastage, it struggled to keep up with my old alt/pop band in rehearsal. It was way to small for live use. I coincidentally used to have the Fender 800 Pro (God, I miss being a DINK), which uses the same power section as your Sunn, i think. You'd be picking speaker bits out of the walls if you dimed that amp into that cab.

so I have a 410 I use at home/local shows, but im trying to find something to take on the road looking at 210 with delta, we fit into a honda insight so its tight fit, but the 210 its what i took out in the past.....but I was using a backline head which min 4 ohms and that 210 was 8 ohms.....so Ive been thinking about trying to buy the cab from my buddy, switching the speakers out for 4 ohm delt (side note could the current speakers be wired to 4?, I havent even looked to see what the speakers ohm are) and using the sunn 1200 or just sticking to the backline....hope that all makes sense

Yep, frig died yesterday, car is in the shop today and the repairs aren't worth doing for what it is worth and have to sell it off as a mechanic's special and buy something else. So yeah when it rains it pours. At least my mortgage is cheaper then rent around here because it is a foreclosure so there will always be repairs to do. So yeah it's an alt country kind of day, I need to hear Jason Isbell singing sadder songs then my day has been. Can't wait to get home and flush kava through my system!

Carvin also has turrrible resale value of you buy new.

Quality stuff without the name recognition. I had the 2x10 4 ohm non neo and made I think half back. Also traded once for a carvin 2x10 neo combo and had a hell of a time getting rid of it too. Neither were suited for this genre in any sense.

But if your playing small shows, have PA support or don't need to blow the audience down and your guitarist is using a 50 watts or less 1x12 combo you'll be "ok" I imagine.

If you are blue, some 16 Horsepower will make you feel a lot better.

Alt country...I used to really be into Will Oldham's work...Whiskeytown, Acetone, Freakwater, some Giant Sand stuff is pretty country-esque.

There's two or three songs I really love by The Handsome Family, but I don't care for most of what I've heard by them that much.

Lambchop are pretty cool but I haven't heard their last several albums.

Geraldine Fibbers, Tarnation...neither of them around anymore but did some good work.

One of my fave albums you could call alt country is "Starlight Walker" by The Silver Jews.

For instrumental country/desert landscape rock, there was a band called Scenic I used to quite like, and I dig a lot of Friends of Dean Martinez.
