All the 90's models are original 50's duo sonic are maple. 93 they had mim 22.5" scale reissues I had one. Then 98 was Chinese affinity. This is a heavily modded affinity model. Got mustang parts

Well, that really depends on the 100 watt amp and big cab. V4B through an 8x10 or a Dually or some other efficient 2x15? That would get loud as shag.
My amp is only 180 watts, after all. And I'm frequently the loudest instrument on stage.
However, in some bands, it probably wouldn't cut it. And not any 100 watt amp will do.
My band's own bandcamp is in my sig. We won't have any new material recorded by then, most likely, but our first album is up.
Band that opened for Bongripper San Francisco, Chrch, used almost entirely old Peavey rigs and sounded heavy as shag.
Awesome! We should have at least one track ready by then!
Also: we practiced today in a different room than usual, I was playing through an SWR ST-220 head and made a rookie mistake. Instead of dialing in the EQ I left it flat as we've been in kind of a hurry today and then complained that my dirt pedals sound like crap. The owner came over and just looked at me like I'm an idiot when I was talking to him. Then he went out after us and I spent like 15 minutes talking with him about amps. I'm pretty sure he wanted to make sure I'm not an idiot
Guitarist forgot his 1Spot and had to power his board through some generic wall wart that was lying in the room. There was an annoying squeal from his amp throughout the whole practice.
Definitely, out fist EP is going to be called The Cult Of SNAFU.
Didn't know they made an Affinity model. $300 is crazy.
I had forgotten about the very early 50s Duo Sonics, before Fender put rosewood on anything I think.
Somehow I had it backwards--was thinking the Mustang came before the Duo Sonic (and Musicmaster) but I think the Duos and Musicmasters were mid-50s and the Mustang came along in '65 or so.

I am really NOT a fan of Stevie ray Vaughan or his brother Jimmy's band Fabulous Thunderbirds, but the bass player Keith Ferguson who, I think, played with both SRV and in the T-birds, has a book out. Haven't read it; don't intend to really, but I read somewhere that he said in his entire career he never played any stage with anything bigger than an 80 or 100W amp.
This may be BS--just something I read he supposedly said.
Of course, white boy blues is a far cry from doom, but still, I imagine that guy played a lot of big venues. Mic'd, PA'd...whatever...would like to know his setup and how he pulled this off.
Yeah, but even so, would a 100W amp push that much through a huge cab?
I really do not know amps that well (painfully obvious to everyone else here) but I would have thought that an amp with wattage that low wouldn't necessarily power a big cab.
That guy had peavey 3620 cabs I think
I keep my rockmaster master (120w) at somewhere between 1-3. Into my dually, I easily compete with an unmic'ed drummer and I'm at least 75% certain the cops won't be called at that level.
I tried to do the reverse and Max the master and cut the pre and it was clean and so damn loud it was impossible to play near it or for any amount of time. It's got a weird setup you can turn the pre and "pump" (second gain stage) mostly off and the master still works and gets scary loud.

The SVT is 300 watts. The cab that goes with it, at least the modern versions, can take 800 watts.
I'm hoping we have out first EP done by then, but we'll see. Also I don't have a Facebook so I'm SOL there!
Yeah, it really depends what kind of tone you're going for from the amp, what all the rest of the rigs are, what the situation is.
I do fine in a doom band playing a 180 watt amp. Of course, I wouldn't be doing fine if I needed to be that loud and also have a clean sound.
Seriously, except my first 20W Hartke combo which I never played with a band, I've never played anything that's less than 200W. Not that I needed that power, but I'd rather have that kind of power and not need it than need it and max out.
Bass cabs don't "need" a certain amount of power to work. You can play a 5 watt amp through an 8x10, and it'll still be considerably louder than that same amp with a small cab. Driver efficiency also really comes into play.
For example, the Greenboy Dually is a very efficient cab. Meaning that at a given power, it's notably quite loud.
True I'm playing in E standard. If I was playing in C or lower and doing heavier stuff Id want at least 200 watts probably like 500 so I can still be clean and loud.
