I know it's fair, but for some reason a ton of people think I'm a rube or hard up for cash. Someone on TB straight up told me they wanted me to bring the price down, so if they wanted to sell it they could make their money back. Trades are pretty difficult right now, since I'm selling to get rid of stuff that's taking up space lol. The only stuff I really need are guitar and bass parts or speakers, for builds. I'm going to use some of the proceeds from this stuff to buy raw materials for the 4x15 cab build and hopefully for an eventual Esquire build with the reclaimed barn wood I bought a while back.

EDIT: Actually, you know...I might be interested in a partial trade for the Fulltone. I need to look up some good quality demos, but I could always use more bass specific OD/distortion in the stable.

Re: are Duallies really that efficient. YES. I play my 1000 watt Terror Bass as loud as my band will let me until someone asks me to turn down. I'm able to hit the same output volume with my 70s Traynor Monoblock II.

I HATE that 3-point bridge. I bought an epi T-bird a few years ago, the first bass I ever bought brand-new - neck dived like a motherf*cker and had that stupid bridge. Sounded awesome, but I just couldn't deal with it.

I've never owned a bass with the infamous 3-point bridge, which Gibson always seems to actually brag about, despite the fact that everyone seems to hate the poopie out of it.

What exactly makes it so terrible?

I don't, at all. I've got a nice chunk of change saved up from gear sales lately, just spring cleaning. Just boggles my mind a bit, as everyone online seems to be sh*tting their pants over the Beta stuff, but no one is buying. I sold my Fender Princeton Reissue combo in a day for over my bottom dollar amount, sold my Ampeg 410HLF for asking price in a day, sold my SG in 2 days for the asking price. Sunn Beta stuff is seemingly appreciating in value over time, mine's in like new condition...nada. Ignore me, I'm in a super bad mood today and it has nothing to do with the amp.

I thought everyone was getting huge into the 70s Sunn stuff. I would have thought that of the things you put up for sale, that would have been the first thing sold.

Played a Ric for the first time last week. Couldn't get over how odd the neck pickup cover felt. Can you palm mute with that thing? hahahah, are bassists even supposed to palm mute?

Neck pickup cover? You mean bridge pickup cover, right?

My Rickenbacker and my Ibanez copy both have their pickup covers. I generally don't palm mute at all on bass, even when playing with a pick (which I've done on the 4001 quite a bit). When I play with a pick, I use the pickup cover as a sort of hand rest, and when playing with my fingers, I usually either anchor my thumb on the edge of the pickguard, edge of the body itself, or on the pickup cover if I'm playing finger style near the bridge.

I don't know if bassists are supposed to palm mute. Some do, and that's fine, but I never have, as it never seems to really work well for what I'm doing. I have tried palm muting on the 4001 a couple times. It works, with the hipshot bridge. I still don't really do so during actual songs, though.

I would for $400, plus the cost of shipping/customs/import/whatever charges. I don't have a problem with shipping, I've shipped stuff to Australia before. I just won't eat the cost of it.

That's alright. If you still have it by the end of June or so, i'll most definitely try to buy it off you. Vintage gear is very rare around here and rarely shows up on sale, but when it does it's nothing too interesting and stupid expensive also.

Thanks to Laz for the lead on this.

Needs a little setup and some cleaning but otherwise in great condition. Going to swap out the high gain pickup for the original and also put on the original bridge. I really don't like the hipshot bridges.

Needless to say I need to sell my 2012 4003 ASAP.

All my exact thoughts, I also assumed it was going to go fast and all my other stuff was going to sit a while. I've owned 3 vintage Sunn heads and they weren't in style when I bought them. It was like I was buying trash, the people selling couldn't believe I even wanted them. It's up for sale here on TB, ILF, stonerrocklives, on CL and I posted it on my FB a bunch. Everyone is excited about it, but no one is buying. I could put it on ebay, but I only buy on there and I'm super nervous about weird stuff happening, like how Eyeball has had with people making claims because of buyer's remorse or something.

That's ok, that's most of the offers I'm getting from people I know online (and in person) "Oh man, if only I had money right now!". I don't take any offense or anything. The only thing aggravating me is the people trying to lowball and being really crappy about it, because they clearly just want to wait a while and flip it for over the price I'm already asking.

I'd rather it just sit in storage and not get played than give it away for less than a reasonable price, just so someone can flip it. Maybe in a year, when the average price is higher, I'll just list it for the same price and it'll move fast.

The only time I tried actually selling anything on ebay, the dude who had the winning bid just straight up never paid me. Like he just forgot about the item he'd bid on.

I don't have the money. I'll probably own one eventually, for the sake of flexibility. Maybe two, heh. As I've mentioned before, I don't see neo speakers and new cab designs as a way to be the same volume with lighter weight, but rather as a way to have the same weight but be louder.

First I'm probably going to work on getting another bass or replacing the speakers in my 2000S cab, though. I'm thinking about putting Faitals in it, but my only concern with that cab and neo speakers is that I'm worried that with the head on top and lighter speakers inside, it'll be too top heavy.

No, EV 15Bs. The cab didn't even start as a 2000S.

They sound great, but I'm a little wary of playing doom metal through discontinued speakers. If they were original JBLs I'd be totally paranoid. Even as it is, I feel like if I wreck one of the speakers, it's like committing a crime against humanity, destroying something irreplaceable.

I've thought about eventually just putting 15PR400s in the 2000S and the copy I'm eventually going to finish, and then selling three of the four 15Bs I own and keeping one to put in a small recording cab.

i was gonna say if you had a legit 2000S dont f with the speakers. i definitely miss that cab, great sound and definitely had a cool factor.

D.M.N., who sometimes posts here, has both an original 2000S and a copy he built himself, both with JBLs, I think.

My cab began life as a 1200S guitar 6x12. I still have the original baffle with the guitar drivers on it, in my closet (positioned so that it's leaning front-first against the wall, in not that different a position than it would be if it was still mounted to the cab). When I get the right combination of time and money, I've thought about transferring the drivers to two homebuilt cabs that would be a 4x12 and a 2x12 with 2/3rds and 1/3rd the internal volume of the original cab, respectively.

My ugly-ass modded cab can be seen in most live pictures of Catapult the Dead. It's not pretty, but it is shaging loud and sounds good.

Went to see Young Widow and Helms Alee tonight after practice.

Helms Alee sounded good as usually, they're good at capturing their recorded sounds. It was a smaller venue which suited their sound better than the larger place I saw them a few months ago.

YW was pretty disappointing last time I saw them, in support of their record (in and out of youth and lightness, which I also wasn't too keen on)

But tonight they played through their new record "Easy Pain" which is already in my top 5 of 2014.

Killed it, sounded awesome, played fantastic. Super awesome show. Completely renewed my faith in what they do.
