Hey all you DIY cab makers, I was looking for some strap handle to add to the top of my new combo and ran across this site, thought you might like it:

So, I'm looking to add another strap or 2 to the top of my combo, do I HAVE to use T-nuts and machine screws, or can I use wood screws? The cab is made from plywood. I'd rather not have to pull the chassis, but will do it on your recommendations.

Yep that is where most of the Greenboy builders get their grills, and other items from time to time.

When you say ply wood, is it actual ply, or chipboard kinda stuff?

Depending on how thick it is, you may be fine with screws, or may need to put a small wooden block in to connect to.

That is true. In those cases the T nuts do make more sense.

If it's 3/4" plywood and the combo isn't really heavy, screws would probably be fine, especially if you're adding two strap handles. Just make sure you use a long enough screw and like was already said, doesn't hurt to add a little piece of wood/ply on the other side if you're in doubt. There's nothing wrong with using t-nuts and machine screws just to be safe though. Either way you should predrill the holes. Reliable Hardware is pretty good for a lot of stuff. I'm going with another company on my next build, but only because there are some parts they don't have that I want to use and didn't want to double up on shipping charges.

I probably don't need to tell you this, but make sure you install the t-nuts from the opposite side of the wood as the handle. I'm surprised by how many people miss that when I see pictures of things online.

I don't wanna yuck anyone else's yum though, not saying it sucks, just don't like it. Sounds like 60's hippie folk freakout rock.

Haha I love it. Typically something like this wouldn't be something I'm into, but something about Blood Ceremony (especially the last album) really does it for me.

frankly id listen to this before a lot of stuff posted in here. at least this girl can sing and her voice is kinda cool. if youre gonna do throw back, go all out.

ill really be impressed if these guys can somehow get a tour going with Jefferson Starship and Janis Joplin.

I'd much rather listen to the most bouncy, monotone vocal Fu Manchu song than mostly clean guitar and flute. no matter how pretty the singer sings. I like dirty tones and aggressive songs, the 60's flower child culture/music thing is not my vibe.
