Anyone ever go into a pawn shop and just want to lol hard at the prices? I mean, I wouldn't want to outright offend a small business owner but sometimes their idea of value makes it seem like they are selling a piece of sentimental personal gear.

I'm not sure a lot of the shops have discovered the usefulness of the internet as a pricing tool (or just don't care)
Most are priced at the MSRP as if they are new and anything that is old is automatically $500+. In every pawn shop you see 1 or 2 of those Epi Goth Birds, they must have sold well locally.

One shop has an Iby Blazer @ $450. I really like it but it's real beat up.

I live near the texas motor speedway. Like two weeks prior to a race even starting it starts building up and the highway is lined with tents scalping tickets and selling air brushed t shirts of famous racers with American/Confederate flags and majestic ass Eagles soaring.

As the race nears the grounds become a shanty town where from what I heard the skoal flows like wine and teeth be rarer than hens teeth.

I'll try it out ASAP, but it may be a day or two. Busy couple days coming.

I only know two pawn shops worth visiting for legit gear. All the others suck. Though once I sold my first real bass amp at one, couldn't make $100 after months on Craigslist. Went to one that just opened up, talked out my ass a bit and made $300 and bought a gk rig that day. Also got my bronco at a crappy pawn shop, but it's a bronco not exactly a vintage artifact of extreme value.

When I sold my amp they gave me an application too lol. I just never went back.

I generally expect pawn shops to suck, though I did score my black Fury at one. This place just kind of surprised me with the ridiculous prices. What really blew my mind was the "graced by God" comment regarding the originality of the pots. A 73 P that is beat to hell without the case just isn't worth $2300. For that price I would EXPECT the OHSC and correct pots, with a mostly intact finish. But I guess that price isn't as outrageous as a $2800 frankenP made put together with relatively inexpensive and readily available parts.

I probably won't gig with it. At least not with my current band. It may be loud, but I would be shocked if it were loud enough. Who knows though maybe I'll bring it to a one can show, or maybe I'll join a band at some point that has guitarists who use reasonable rigs. It will however be my primary home rig and what I'll take to the studio with me. Either way, it is months down the road. I plan to build with okoume to try and cut down some of the weight.

Just build two. Put 3015s or 15PR400s in 'em.

I actually put way too much liner in my cab build. Since acquiring the two actual Sunn cabs, I now have an actual gauge to measure against, and with all the insulation in the DIY one it sounds really muted and quiet compared to the other two. I can post pics of the inside of the Yale can which is bone stock at some point, but essentially all it has is a thin layer of bed foam on the back panel, with nothing else, and it's my best sounding cab.

When I converted it from its original 1200S configuration, there was just a single strip of foam about six inches wide on the back.

How thin? My foam is 1/4" it looks like.

The pawn shops around here have all the MIM, Squier and Epi stuff stickered at prices higher than what Long and McQuade wants for the same stuff new. and they aren't very receptive to offers. I'm guessing they make 75% of their revenue on the predatory loans.

What do you mean you didn't buy it? All he meant is in today's bass cab market (not vintage) you expect certain things like batting and if it's not their it's a sign they probably took other shortcuts/don't use the modern developments that work for you not against you.

Just head to your nearest wal mart and lay down $10 on a mattress topper and you'll be done dude it's not as much trouble as you're making it lol shouldn't be a months long back and forth. Right now the mattress toppers are gonna be in bedding and the back to college dorm/seasonal area at wal mart. I bought mine for my dorm used it 6 months and have slowly cut it down to just a little chunk ever since filling cabs.

Pawn shops - love them. Janesville (town where I grew up) has several that used to be full of weird old gear for killer deals. With the internet now those deals are few and far between, which blows. I still like going to them and pawing through the gear. Madison is hurting for pawn shops, there's one pawn america that is pretty picked over and is regularly cleaned out by the owner of the one remaining decent guitar shop in town and another place that is so small, doomed and dismal that I never set foot in the place. They overcharge for their MI stuff anyway.

Hitting the bricks studying algebra again. Damn, I forgot a lot of sh*t. Oh well, it's only an 8 week class.

Birthday coming up next week, seeing Earth the day before, going out for beers with a former co-worker that shares the same b-day on friday. Should be a good time.

Finally sprung for new strings. I've had the same set all summer. I practice in a garage in Arizona. I sweat a lot. They are DEAD. I get the stainless steel house brand at juststrings.com, you get any gauge you want in a pack of 6 for cheap. I've settled on 45-65-90-120, I don't think anybody offers that in a off-the-shelf set. I got six new sets for 69 bucks, woo. Do they sound the best? Fvck if I know. No strings tone is stronger than my sweat. No I am not a paid representative ha ha. Carry on.

Can you detail to me the differences, and does your BB have a tone bypass to add to that comparison?

Yeah... The less concepts thing is a concept I didn't get at Mizzou. 8 week class meant that a 16 week class was just super condensed. Same spread of concepts were covered though. For the few math courses I took, that meant a chapter every class. For the rest of my sociology(my BA) courses it meant 100-200 pages of reading for every class and two 7-10 page papers every week. I regularly had 800ish pages(that I just skimmed at best) and 4-5 papers amounting in 20-25 pages due on the same day every week. The plus side was that for the last 2.5 years of school I only had 2 days of class a week.

Honestly, it's been one the crappiest stretch of days I've had in a while.

My best friend might be moving halfway across the country. I don't think it's a good idea, but it's her life, not mine. Still feels terrible. There was the whole neighbor thing, and I'm worried he'll say stuff to my landlord that will get me evicted. Plus I was late to work today and got chewed out for it, and so was hyper-aware of how terrible I am at my job. Probably going to get fired soon. I've been single for two years pretty much to the day now, which also feels terrible. And I messed up my bass parts at rehearsal today. So the thing that normally makes me feel better, didn't, and consequently I still kinda wish I didn't exist.

All my condensed classes were summer classes. It was statistics where this was most apparent. It was a 6 week course class from 7am-12pm every day and we worked and learned until noon every day, but of concepts couldn't get done they had to be omitted as there was just no time. Granted the stuff he kinda glossed over kinda didn't help me in stat 2 but I got my A's.

I had another summer class where the prof day one straight up said ignore this section of your syllabus, can't be done.

Dorkiest reason we missed parts of the curriculum though is two years back it iced one day and remained over the weekend and that halted things over a week lol.

I think you'll be ok at your place man. I can't see a landlord of an illegal apartment evicting you as he clearly enjoys the money enough to ignore the fact it's not allowed.

In time the other stuff will fade/resolve itself.

Your jobs a temp agency gig right? Can't you just go back and see what else they got either proactively or if they let you go?

Yeah, the participation thing isn't hard, just ask and answer questions and don't sit there silently like SO MANY PEOPLE DO. This algebra class is all online so no need to worry about participation. I'm finding the whole experience to be much easier now that I'm a (mature?) adult. No angst, no self-doubt, way past caring what other people think of me. Just go in, do what needs to be done and ask questions when you need help. Pretty simple, really.

My other class is a small group communication - that one could suck depending on what kind of group I get assigned to. I'm sure I'll have to be the one to take charge and make sure everyone gets their poopie done - not a big deal but my past experiences with group work have been less than stellar.

After I finish the math class I'm going to invest some time and money in CLEP tests and try to test out of as much as possible. Looks like I could easily shave a year or two off of my time, which would be awesome.
