Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Like I said, it's an illegal apartment. The only access to the water heater and furnace is through my spot.

Fair enough. Look to be honest, I would probably react badly to this happening to me personally.

But objectively, you are a good guy and a grown man, and unless he starts making unreasonable demands, just a point of pride. If you engage him, best case scenario you win a meaningless argument with some go who's not worth your time, worst case you get an even worse neighbour and maybe have to move out. Probably best to just let it go.

Yeah, I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. Super cheap rent, but I guess you get what you pay for.

I've lived in an illegal apartment at one point. Left because splitting a utility bill was one sided to the bitch family in one of the units. The only recourse you have right now Satori is get the LL to change the locks and shut this pie hole down. If your not breaking sound ordinance then d bag has nothing to bitch about.
Landlord would probably not change the locks.

Utilities are included in rent, though.

It's very similar to the foam used in ATA cases.

Sorry I'm not familiar, but it makes me think it's not the best as that sounds like memory foam. Can you take a picture. Is it flat n smooth and dense or egg crate like.

Use the 1/4" thinner stuff and def try with Velcro or other semi permanent setup first.

Issue is that he could potentially get into my place and **** my stuff up any time.

Booby traps and poop on the floor. How much is your rent out there if you don't mind?

Really? Didn't realize that. My Echo-Puss is analog and has a tone control. I guess it's the odd man out, then.

Forgot about the Digidelay. Had one ages ago, and liked it pretty well. Might have to look into that one. I do think that Digitech is criminally underrated on the whole. Thanks for the reminder!

I guess anything could have a tone knob. Maybe it makes your echo-vag sound digital or 137% more analog lol.

I say digitech sounds like a cool option. I would be getting a digiverb, but I heard its volume cuts when level is max wet.

I'll take a pic when I get a chance.

And no, no poop on floor. That's gross. Also I have carpet (poor decision on the landlord's part, I think). Rent is $500 a month, all utilities included except internet.

Dang that is good if it's not a hell hole. I hate carpet though (have it too).

Doesn't matter that it's ported?

Nope. For what it's worth every cab bass/guitar I own, I have or will insulate. Excluding open backs of course. Though, all my cabs either came that way or I padded them before listening to them save a couple and those were very old combos and I'm not sure I could tell there was a change.

Far as I know it's an improvement as Julian says. I don't think it would ever be night and day, especially if you only ever listen to yourself in the mix but it's not a bad move by any means. Now you could be "very discerning" in your listening, picky or whatever and maybe prefer the non padded cab. That's fine too as music is too opinionated for even a glaringly obvious improvements to truly be considered an improvement by everyone.

I'll try putting the 1/4" foam on the back, then, I think.

And yeah, right now, $500 for a studio apartment (even if it's a basement) in the bay area is insane.

And carpet is so annoying. Gets dirty, hard to clean. Ugh. I'd rather have bare floors and throw rugs.
