Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

The Lye drain openers (like the one I posted) won't harm your plumbing if you follow the directions. Works much better than drano.

Also, invest in a screen / hair trap for your tub.

Will do.

My house I recently found out is a converted shack. In the very early 1900's the Texas women's university became aware the cities entire African American population was on its border. Feeling racist, they said everybody leave and relocate to this pasture, we are building a park.

Long time no see. Still in Austin?

I tried the coat hanger first. Problem is there's a solid metal X in the drain and it's hard to manouver around it.

Yeah, but have you reveled in the glory that is Great White yet?

Also: be sure to check out Warrant and Britny Fox and Cinderella.

It's funny, back when I was enough into punk rock and young enough to work that look a little bit (mostly limited in my case to Doc Martens, flannels, torn up old jean jackets and homemade band t-shirts) me and my friends got called faggots, homos and queers by people who listened to bands that looked like this:

Haha. In the later 90's I had a mohawk and I lived in a mostly rural eastern Washington town and received many of the same compliments but I think they were mostly Billy Ray Cyrus fans.

I never understood the hair metal thing, some of the music isn't bad but I don't understand the aesthetic at all.

My guitarist used to be into hair metal. Don't know if he was really into it or just for kicks. He even made a hair metal birthday party. Most of his (and mine) friends are metal heads anyway, so everyone just pulled out their old high school t-shirts. It turned into a regular metalhead party...

He listened to Guns n Roses in high school though, so... :D

I'm somehow a lot more forgiving now when I hear music from that era that I totally loathed at the time back in the day. I'll hear something like Ratt's "Round and Round" or some Billy Idol song I would try real hard to avoid back when they were first popular hits, but if I hear 'em these days something in me goes "Oh! Cool blast from the past!"

(This isn't true of everything though...still can't stomach Bon Jovi or GnR, for example.)

@Muddslide

lol I googled great white, saw some sharks, saw that hair... Pressed the back button.

Spandex are mandex dude, don't be a Nancy boy

Some things you missed, you aren't really missing anything. There was a lot of music from back then I dug at the time (and still do) but it was mostly underground. Same as today really.

Man, I am feeling put to shame with all the fuzz collectors here. I started with a big box muff borrowed from a friend, then went fuzz-less for a few years. Then I bought a Bluebeard in '05. Tried a Swollen Pickle, took it back, back to the BB. In '13 I got a second BB (Tone bypass), and later sold my old one to Bryce. That been pretty much it :) I am looking into a Musket for my guitar rig, but no other fuzz I've heard or tried has made me stray from my Bluebbeard.

Do people on TB know that GAS isn't an actual syndrome?

Then the people who get all philosophical about their basses as tools blah blah blah make me want to go drink some of @askrere's drano.

I guess I'm in a bad mood today.

On another note, I got that T-40 back together last night. I got the truss rod adjusted but not perfectly...it groaned a bit and made me lose some of my nerve. I put some flats on it that I had on the other T-40 for awhile. The blade pickups are hotter and brighter than the older toaster style.

Thanks again, reminds me I need to email Sonny back with my gut shot.

Drano recommends a milk chaser and close proximity to a hospital if you're thirsty

Almost kava:30. Need my social juice for a family birthday get together in beautiful Hampton VA tonight. Hopefully the ol lady's little sister's boyfriend who actually digs good music and plays a little bass will be there. I will make sure I bring extra kava for him since that saved us both at the crab fest last weekend. Yeah I don't get much male bonding

Slower than snails these people. I'll be applying elsewhere, but damn I want this. Also tired of being poor. I want stuff besides flippy music gear.
