the dod fx90 footswitch went bad, but at least i had 45 minutes of fun with it before i had to take it in to get the true bypass mod, mantic density hulk better arrive today, cause i'm getting kinda obsessed now, probably just going to use it to boost the p, not sure if the orange cabs will put out too much sub bass, weird stomach issue continues, teaching at a school sucks, all these diseased people touching all the water coolers, computer keyboards, and door knobs, probably need to write a song about it

My friend wants to put his half stack into a church podium he has and gig it. Yea a solid wood podium, with a 3150 head and four 12's in it would be a cinch to move.

After someone suggested investigating the gear page boards, I investigated. I discovered that some people really believe that the wood a cabinet is made with will impact the tone. I read a couple posts where people essentially diddled themselves over their different tone wood cabs. Since then I have heard of people doing cabs like this all over the place. I feel like at one point I was curious about solid wood cabs and a quick google confirmed that it is less desirable of a material to build cabs with than quality ply. Something about wood warping or the lack of glue and plys allowing the wood to vibrate and add unwanted sounds.

At the very least it seems like a way to make a heavy cab heavier and to provide a selling point for blues lawyers with more money than sense.

I left it by telling him I hope he's just lying to me. I'd hate to think his "friend" offered him the awesome deal of $500 for the work, and the privledge of keeping all the valuable NOS components, tubes and speakers... The only other reason you rebuild an amp completely is because you found it gutted in a dumpster.

Trolling Blues Lawyers in real life is a lot of fun. Very rewarding to have them try and justify something subjective.

If it ended there it was. I did then he came back and kept telling me my ethics were flawed and his time and experience in life aren't handouts. Apparently to ask if something is tama style is a blood pact I'll buy you're wares (that aren't tama style) for full cash price right now.

Turns out another ad had asked for a trade not his... Oopsies guess that set it off.

Man I was twisted up tight on some Cactus Kava Fijian Loa Lawena yesterday, I only ate like one apple and some cashews to keep the kruzz going all day, what a nice Sunday. Found a relatively close Mexican restaurant to me and ended my kava food fasting there, yummy.
I got my 25 pounds of kava in last week and had to mix it all up to get a uniform sample to send off for testing. Nothing like being in the presence of that much kava.

I love rolling in with a big rig. Is it slightly inconvenient? Sure. Do people notice what amp you're playing? Probably not. Do they notice that there's a fat stack of amps on stage? Hell yeah they do. Stage presence seems to be overlooked way to often. I mean, we play in bands, we're in show business, people want to see a show, and part of that is visual, you know? And what looks cooler visually than a big stack of amps? Not much.

I get what you are saying here and I totally agree that stage presence matters. However I'm finding that I can barely find room on most stages for my 2x112 vertical stack which is just over two feet wide. Maybe with a three piece something like a fridge works, but with a five piece that has 2 guitarists it butts to nuts. Hell, just moving around or headbanging gets dicey. I wish the dip sticks that do club layouts would actually think two seconds about the bands that have to play there.

Which 112s? they don't have a narrow tall configuration?

I got to play my Epi Thunderbird for a bit this morning, freshly setup with some Rotosound strings (the roundwounds without the silk). Sounded great, I'm hoping to find something to use it for, I got it and the guitar I dropped off to have pickups swapped setup for D standard.

I'm also driving myself crazy trying to figure out a new compact home recording guitar rig. I've been using my Carvin X100B set to 50% power on the clean channel, with the volume never above 1 or 2 for years now. Not many small 15-20W tube heads are geared towards clean headroom and most of the cleans I hear on small heads seem unimpressive as they all shoot for saturated power tube blues tones or low volume metal tones. I was looking at a Traynor Darkhorse 15w, which is a 2 band baxandall style tonestack and supposedly pretty clean and great for pedals. Absolutely no frills, but not sure if I care. All the Peavey micro head stuff has way too many bells and whistles. Also checked out the Egnater Tweaker, since it supposedly can cop Fender and Vox style cleans, but also a lot of extraneous stuff I would never use on there.

Which 112s? they don't have a narrow tall configuration?

I use a pair of GK 112Neo2. I was wrong about the measurements; they are 16" wide when stacked vertically.
I'd love more speakers but 4x12 or 2x410 or a 8x10 is just impossible. When we played in the Bay Area recently we had to set up our amps after the drummer was set because it blocked him in. At one show the other guitarist actually had to play off the stage. At a show in Hollywood I had to use the landing for the steps to the stage for my rig. Who the hell designs these places?

Speaking of Thunderbirds. I keep overlooking the Waterstone for the Jazzquarbird with Chromes on it. There is just something about Gibby Thunderbird pickups. I am tempted to put together a Fender shaped fiver with some type of Gibby or Epi Thunderbird style pups if I can find them.
