Depends where the hi/low mid controls are centered. The mids I like most often fall right between them.

I feel the same about Verellen. A Verellen SVT would be pretty cool. I doubt it would be cooler than a heritage SVT though, and likely more expensive.


Speaking of SVTs, I saw a local CL ad for a late 90s SVT. Was described to crackle and pop when heating up, but sounds great and works perfectly after that. Asking price: $1500. LOL.



Mid heavy J pickups... what does the hive mind have on these? Do they exist? If not, what are some suggestions for aggressive sounding Js. I think this Ibby J has SD 1/4# pickups and while they sound great, I'd like to a more grindy mid heavy pickup set that are also silent. Would a pair of model Js do the trick?

Just reroute the body, and put in double P split coils.

We had a cat with no tail when I was a teenager. Some breeds are just like that, I think he was a Manx. He had jointed thumbs and a little extra toe/claw in the webbing. That cat was weird and mean. It was still alive last I heard, but defected to a neighbors house. May not still be around, it would have to be at least 20 by now.

Little guy's ma has a tail, no idea what pa had. He has a weird and clumsy sense of balance and (so far) doesn't like to jump to high places. He's more of a ground-and-pounder. :eek:

I may be wrong, but I think this thing takes the incoming 9v and turns it into 18v, so the 1Spot is still only supplying 9v. It's supposed to be the external version of a charge pump (I think that's the name) that some pedals have internally to take a 9v plug and run the pedal at 18v. Anybody else ever hear of this thing? I don't have space for another wall wart for a single pedal. And since I don't NEED this, I don't want to buy it and find it doesn't work. The pedal I have runs fine at 9v, just said it's "better" at 18v, and thought I'd give it a go.

After a couple rounds of tweaks, finally got to play through AmpZilla. OMFG! This beast made my 800RMS/1600Peak cab STINK! Had to use both 4ohm 215's for a total of 2ohm. Unreal Dynamics and immediate punch. The strength of the fundamentals are just unreal. It's got pre and post bass controls, mid shift, presence, T/M/B, Clean boost w/footswitch, and 500lb cahones. I guess this is what you get when you let 6x KT90's play with about 700volts on the plates. The speaker terminals can swing well over 100v!! So that's like wall outlet power from the speaker jacks...

Only negative is we had a couple KT90's pop during initial testing, quite spectacularly. We're well within what that datasheets say are the limits, but all bets are off above 500v,

I'd second the Arcadia option. Often charge pumps can be noisy, but it's definitely possible to do it right and have them be quiet. I'd A/B it with an actual 18v supply just to make sure nothing is lacking. Also, depending on which pedal you're powering with 18v, often all you get is more headroom, and sometimes less max distortion. If you're powering a non-distortion pedal, then perfect, but if it's a OD/Fuzz, it may be counter-intuitive, unless you're looking for more headroom of course.

I'm wanting slightly less grit, so that's the plan for my pedal. It's an Amptweaker FatMetal, if anyone here has experience. I like the tone in general, but can't help but think I can improve it a bit with slightly less grainy distortion sounds.

I also have no clue how to make one of those things work or build it if I went the DIY route.

This appears to do the same thing, but at roughly the same price point and with less voltage options, I'm still leaning towards the Iso-Pump.
