Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

[QUOTE="JulienneFrankus, post:

Anyone care to chime in on any tips for my first live performance? Practice rituals/staying calm/etc*
I don't drink alcohol anymore, and bud makes me paranoid.

I love this thread, cool people, cool stories of daily life[/QUOTE]

Just remember you're there to have fun, and that everythinf else is pretty secondary. If you're having fun, the audience will have fun too. Simple as that.

My verb collection just got a whole lot better today. Picking up a Mr Black Supermoon for a solid deal at $130. Cheapest I normally see is $150. A lot of people say these are the king of cavernous verbage, well see about that!!!

Theres only one more verb, after I get the supermoon, I want to get before my list is complete, and thats an old Fender tube reverb unit.

Emailed a guy about a peavey max bass preamp that needs work, he's in the neighborhood, I was ready to run right over and grab it. He came back and said that he's going out of town but he'll give it to his girlfriend who can do the exchange after Tuesday. I responded less than an hour after he posted the ad - why would post that if you're immediately leaving town?

Oh well, hope it works out, it's perfect to go with the Altec 100W tube power amp.

really not a good weekend so far, earlier today band practice was cancelled due to a sleepy/grumpy gf, the truss rod snapped like a twig this morning on the black 90s LB100 bass that I bought last year for my birthday, and yesterday the clog remover ate up the pipes below the bathroom sink

hopefully i can cover all the expenses and still pay my property taxes, ugh

Future FYI regarding the sink. Baking soda and vinegar won't damage the pipes and work very well if you also use a little sink plunger.

Sorry to hear about the LB100. How the heck did that happen?

You will love it. Crystal clear with no low end loss and HUUUUGE. Picking fuzzed out harmonics and swelling into the Supermoon with all knobs dimed via volume pedal is very cool noise making. I'd imagine a synth or tremolo or delay could all yield pretty cool results. And $130 is a pretty good deal. I've said since I got mine that if it were lost/stolen/destroyed, I would have no issue whatsoever buying a new one for $180. It's that kind of good.

Sitting in urgent care waiting for my daughter to see a doc.

Tell you what driving around to get here was awesome. Thank you foosball.

My daughter is such a conundrum, 104 fever and she prancing about like she's in Swan Lake. Like dammit girl act sick so the doctor believes me.

People have done that a few times too. It's weird, but whatever.

What would worry me is lately craigslist preemptive selects to map your location with scary accuracy. I don't approve of this. Now imagine Forgetting to turn that off when posting high dollar items and leaving town. Tell a guy you'll be back in three days? Not a safe combo that's easy to overlook.

I don't know what happened, it always seemed a little ineffective and then it snapped like a twig without too much pressure like a cheap drywall screw

Good to hear!!! The Backhand got a bit muddy when going for cavernous verb and lost a little bit of low end. Its amazing at shorter springy modulated verb though. The Ghost Echo is favorite so far because its like a delay/verb hybrid, but it doesn't go quite cavernous enough. The Cathedral, is awesome but the digital latency and mode button make it not really usable live, but it can do really anything.

Looking for a low volume practice amp similar to my Peavey Supreme (for guitar practice!). I know it's basically a Bandit in head form, but all the Bandits I've found are pricier than expected. Any suggestions for something else? Preferably cheap... Thanks!

Peavey 158 got me through my first 4 years of guitaring. Tore it apart to refinish and lost a bunch of parts...

So do you have date 2 planned?

I've been seeing her for a little over a month. We both got sick this weekend so we've been holed up making very spicy food to clear up.

You're a monster.

I read in that in the voice of the ginger bread man from shrek...

If it makes you feel better after posting I scratched my parts and carried the fire as well.
