Yeah, judging from the photos it's a chinese Rat 2. I've not encountered one before but I've heard a lot negative things about the quality of the PCBs. Some of the big modders refuse to work on them, so I'm looking forward to seeing for myself how easy or difficult they are to work on.

At any rate, I still have 10 LM308s to do something with so might as well get cracking.

That's terrific, I'm sure the rest of the room agrees that we hope it continues and grows into something truly musically satisfying. I know I've said it before, but in Hex Volt's case it helps so much to partner up with someone who's in a similar spot in life and shares the same perspective and scope of goals. Hope it works out!

Corey, the more I think about it the more ironic it seems that as soon as quit trying start a heavy project you meet a guy that knows the whole Palm Desert scene and is into it. The universe is being kind of a dick to you, but maybe something good will come of it!

Also, I really, seriously, obsessively love Yawning Man and would love to play something in that vein.

Pissed I had to sell the last one in my TAX MAN sale blitz. Need to scope another since fortune was reversed this year. That would make #3 for me... Should have never sold the first one, bought that new in the late 80's.

I also love Yawning Man, perfect bridge for the two very different scenes that I like a lot. The stuff I'm jamming on is way more in the reverb drenched, kinda spooky sounding vein and not so much psychedelic. Though I do want to do a couple songs sort of in that style, slower and mellow.

I'm not really sweating the band stuff right now too much, or trying not to at least. I liked playing surf on guitar and want to pursue that, I'm still hoping to play bass in a new doom band with my buddy who fronted the last doom metal band I was in. If he can get over his depression and get in gear, he has a drummer ready to go. I made a sort of informal decision this week to separate my guitar and bass interests. Stoner/doom for bass, surf rock for guitar. So I'm selling my Atlas 6x12 that I've played for about 3 hours tops and my Carvin X100B head and using the proceeds to pay some bills and fund some better suited guitar gear. I was going to swap out some pickup in one of my basses this week, but another round of unexpected vet bills and now unexpected dental bills again kind of wiped that out and then some.

well we got the news that my dog's arthritis is actually bone cancer. normally they would amputate but since it's in her front leg and she's a basset that's not really an option. the only good thing is that the pain meds she has been on are working and it doesn't seem to be getting worse. she is her normal self but it is only a matter of time. 3-4 months...knowing my dog she'll push it to 8.

it really sucks, because even though she is 11, you'd never know it. most people think she's still a puppy..

Damned sorry to hear that. Glad to hear that medicine is helping though.

That sucks man, we just went through the exact same thing with our oldest dog. Unfortunately she was older and it was more advanced, so she only lasted a week before we had to put her to sleep, because she wouldn't eat. Spoil that dog and treasure every day you get.

Anyone have any suggestions on how to test out that Peavey 800 Booster I got a while back? I mean as far as like what I'd need to plug into the front end to at least test that it functions? I'm going to sell it, gotta pay some bills (student loans, impound fees, etc) since it's taking up some space.

Damn @bassboysam really sorry to hear that. Good to hear she isn't experiencing any pain from it, I know how hard it can be in those last few months, especially if they're having any sort of discomfort.

it wants to see at least a line out level. so a distortion pedal with a bunch volume on tap should be enough to make sure it works.
