Usually love Amin Amarth. New album seems really power metally to me. Still give it a few spins and try it out though. Could grow on me.

I've always liked Amon Amarth, but they've never been like, in my most favorite bands. I'll check out the new record from them, though.

Haven't posted in a long while, and I merely pop my head to the usual threads when I stop by, but I thought I'd extend the offer for everyone here to check out my new band, SUBETROTH. Here's a link to listen to....



We are an all fretless studio group playing some sludgy dewm. The guitarists are tuned down to E1, while I am tuned down to E0, using a .222 from Kalium Strings to get the proper tension.

My chain goes as follows-
Yamaha TRB 1005F w/ Kalium Strings, Darkglass Tone Capsule and Nordstrand Big Singles->
Markbass Compressore->
[sfx] AY2->
Wren & Cuff Phat Phuk B->
Darkglass B7K->
Dr. Scientist The Cleanness->
Brimstone XD-2->
Ampeg SVT-7 Pro w/Ashly DPX 100 in the effects loop->
Gallien Krueger Neo 412

I recorded 5 signals simultaneously, 2 DI and 3 mics.

The 2 DIs were an A Designs REDDI and a UA Solo/610

I used a Rode NTK modded with a NOS Telefunken, an EV RE-20, and a AKG D112 for the mics.

Throughout the album I mixed up the blends and levels of all these signals to give all the songs different colors while keeping the guitar tones as uniform as possible. To me, it gave each song their own life, even if it's only consciously noticeable by bassists and other engineers.

This is my first production, ever. I kept a few creative mistakes in the final mixes to give a more organic feel, keeping the best takes where they are recorded in the song, and NEVER copy and pasting.

I know the Doom genre is a bit flooded these days, but from my experience, most Doom fans are people in Doom bands. So I figured I'd swing by and chime in on what's really my only "specialized" social forum to geek out with you guys about the ins and outs of my particular role with the project.

Well a month in on the Psych rock thing and the sludge thing. Both are going well. Almost have the psych stuff down, they already have 9 songs. There is eastern influence, surf, a little metal, and some stoner leanings. They want to play some shows in a few weeks. I think we need more tightening up, especially me.
I'm definitely more pumped on the Sludge project, the working title for the band is Sh*tbag... haha which I think is fing great. When we get 3 to 4 songs fleshed out, we're going to try and get some kind of bandcamp. We have 2 songs so far.
The Saturday metal recording/jamming for fun band is still going. There's about 7 or 8 songs there. 2 are still in blueprint stage. With more weird odd time riffs that are challenging for me to play. I was wanting to drop out of this project. It's hard to leave something your familiar with and guys that challenge you as a player.

I'll have to check out Jastreb. I love Seven That Spells.
Just came across this. Pretty cool.
