Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I hear you guys. It is swollen, but it really doesn't look that bad. FAR from losing an arm. There was no blister collapsing into an ulcer. Its a largish swollen area with a small dot the size of like a pin head. I'd guess at a 20% chance of a nasty scar. I'll probably just head to urgent care after work tomorrow. I didn't even feel the bastard bite me. Just woke up with a swollen and achy bump on my arm.

I'll add that there is only one "wound". It doesn't have both fang marks and it looks a LOT better than some of the images I've seen of recluse bites.

Yeah those pics are ****ed. Obviously a majority of those were far worse, but I feel for the girl with the bitten boob.


My arm looks like its in excellent shape compared to those pics. I'll go to urgent care tomorrow. I am not going to develop a festering bone deep wound in the next 15 hours. If I feel like I could I'll leave work and go to the hospital. Everyones body is different and we all react differently; however from everything I have read about spider bites, it would have gotten a lot worse in the first 24 hours than it did. Most medical websites (including the Mayo clinic) say that if it doesn't develop worse symptoms then the only thing you can really do is let it run its course. Obviously I am not a doctor and I am smart enough to not take everything I read about medical conditions as prophecy. But I really do believe that if I or my limbs were in imminent danger my body would have told me at this point. I mean it has been a solid 72 hours. But for the sake of prevention and to ease my mind. Doctore manana.

@Turkeypills got to the doctor. Reminds of how a guy back home but his hand in his buddy's venomous snake cage. He got tagged but kept saying it just nicked him so they went to bar and they all told him to go to the doctor. He said if the redness goes to my elbow I will. They left and dude died in the car. The other guy was so freaked he drove back to the bar not knowing what to do.
So go to the damn doctor.

Got a Way Huge Pork Loin for my birthday. One pedal I should of never sold. I still need to do the Johnk mod but even stock this pedal is delicious. I think I want another. One as a purely clean boost/tone shaper as even using it with no dirt it adds so much to your tone. I never used it as a purely clean boost but the dude before me had all the knobs and internal trim pots set to clean boost only and it was stellar. I changed it to dirt box settings and if I roll the dirt knob back it cleans up. So I don't really need two of them...but. I love when a get such an awesome new pedal and you get lost in noodling the night away. It made me totally forget people were on the way to buy a kayak I had on Craigslist until i heard the knock on the door.

An unknown (not BW) spider bite is a bit different than a tag from a hot snake. Not going immediately was a death wish. I popped it a little last night. My arm hurts quite a bit today, but like I said, off work at 1 and then off to urgent care.

That's where that amp shines. You should run it into one of your tube amps slaved. I bet that would be next level doom.


On second thought that is such a good idea, when I do finally get an SVT(hopefully in the next year) I should slave it with a Sunnbather. That sounds ridiculously awesome.

Well, after today's practice, I doubt we'll record something anytime soon. I thought we'll do a live session in May, but we got into making fourth song and talking about recording a whole album instead of a 3 song demo.
Good thing is, guitarist finally learned how to shout so that it sounds cool with our music. I might pass on singing after all, I bring most of the riffs anyway.

Went to urgent care. I have a "raging case of cellulitis". Potentially lethal, glad I went in. Could have certainly been caused by a spider, but it could be a number of other things. I asked about if it could be a recluse bite and the doc told me it would have been horribly necrotic at this point if it were a recluse. The redness has spread to the point of almost encircling my forearm and running the length of my forearm on the backside. Fortunately I feel fine otherwise so it is highly unlikely that the infection has spread to my bones or bloodstream. I also have had an ongoing rash(~1 year and change) from allergic reaction to various flours (primarily rice flour and rye flour) that has become infected. They gave me steroids, antibiotic ointment and some serious business antibiotics. Should be right as rain in a couple days.
