Some cool kits in there, I kind of want the Ric one. Also that 5-string explorer could be pretty sweet. Impractical as hell, but cool.

(Probably stupid) question: what's the difference between delay and reverb? Don't they just do the same thing, but with different time periods? I ask because I may finally pick up a delay (or reverb) pedal for the bass rig, but only use a borrowed reverb for one part of a single song, and I tried out an old delay at short intervals and it sounded pretty much the same.

Also, since I'm cheap, would there be any pedals that can do both effects fairly well?

EQD Ghost echo. My fav reverb and can do short delay sounds with the attack knob way up.

You can cop reverb-ish sounds with a short delay, but they are different.

I guess it depends on your end goal - do you want your bass to sound like it's in a large, echo-y space? Then get a reverb. If you want repeating delays then get a delay pedal.

Otherwise look for a Boss reverb/delay or the Behringer equivalent. They have 4 reverbs, 4 delays and 4 combination delay/reverbs. Good way to experiment and figure out what you want.

My HC guitarist builds guitars from kits and then draws art on them before clear-coating. That treatment on the Rickenfaker kit could be right up my alley.

Pedals I got for my fuzz face clone and dod 250 clone. UD is for bass.

That mxr and the NYC big muff clone will be guitar/slide/organ dirt, and that board is...

OC-2 > Big Muff > RV-2 > MXR OD

I'll add a Vox wah after the muff, and the EHX BMS somewhere once it's fixed too.

That MXR 100hz knob is very interesting.

@kleinenenten I'll second trying a Behringer first. Usually the tones are pretty good but the switches are sh1tty. They're good for "trying out" effects before you drop a bunch of loot on an EQD or other booteeky pedal. Verbs/delays can get pricey in hurry. I tried and liked the RV-3, FWIW, but didn't use it much so sold it. Also tried the Mr Black Supermoon which was awesome but, again, I didn't use it much so I traded it.

I've never found reverb to be an effect I like on bass other than my bass vi. I've only used Delay on guitar in slapback form, always get the itch to try on bass, but not enough to get another delay pedal.

In most trio settings, reverb on bass doesn't make much sense live unless it's in an intro or interlude type section. With a bass-drum combo, it has plenty of application.

Precisely why I haven't invested much time or money into this avenue of effect yet. I simply don't use it much. I guess I'll keep my eyes open for a reverb, as that's what I like for that specific type of effect. Been using my buddy's Digiverb, and it seems pretty good all things considered. I don't want to drop serious coin on a pedal I use very sparingly. Thanks for the suggestions.

RV-3 is around $100, but the Behringer should be around $30 tops.

Buy a multi-effect like an MS60b and you can try different stuff or have a second setting of a current effect somewhere else in the chain.

There's always a couple in the assifieds, I paid $65 for mine shipped to my door. It's nice to experiemnt with.

I have pretty much all I need besides reverb. If I went for a delay, I know what it would be, as I have one I like be in guitar, and it works just as well on bass.

i'm thinking the pre amp tubes on the d180 might be getting a little long in the tooth, i'm not getting the same gritty od i was getting before with or without the rat tail

do you guys take your tube amps for regular maintenance or do you just wait till they are functionality issues?

Buying even a single preamp tube and playing whack a mole is the cheapest way to prove that theory.
