The way my two dingwall basses are wired right now, I have a rotary switch to jump between series and parallel options. Much more useful to me than a pan pot.

Yeah. I took out the tone knob and put a rotary pickup switch there. Because I pretty much don't use tone knobs while I do use pickup switches.

Al Cisneros was known to run a DOD250 into a Boss DS-1 in the early-mid Sleep days. It would just be a pedal with both circuits in it. All you'd need are a bunch of dimed Matamps and SVTs.

What does the DOD250 do?

You know, I got into a disagreement with someone once who insisted that was a wah pedal.

I don't really know how to tell the difference. I can get similar sounds on my wah. Not as good, though.

Electric Amp is taking a shvtkicking. can't even produce a single piece of evidence that he's actually producing amps.

If I wanted one, I'd just get a clone made.

You can cop reverb-ish sounds with a short delay, but they are different.

I guess it depends on your end goal - do you want your bass to sound like it's in a large, echo-y space? Then get a reverb. If you want repeating delays then get a delay pedal.

Otherwise look for a Boss reverb/delay or the Behringer equivalent. They have 4 reverbs, 4 delays and 4 combination delay/reverbs. Good way to experiment and figure out what you want.

If you're going to use both, do you run delay into reverb or the reverse?

I've never found reverb to be an effect I like on bass other than my bass vi. I've only used Delay on guitar in slapback form, always get the itch to try on bass, but not enough to get another delay pedal.

I actually use it quite a bit. Not usually for very long, but still a lot. Any time I'm using feedback, the reverb is on. Any time I use e-bow, the reverb is on.

i'm thinking the pre amp tubes on the d180 might be getting a little long in the tooth, i'm not getting the same gritty od i was getting before with or without the rat tail

do you guys take your tube amps for regular maintenance or do you just wait till they are functionality issues?

Usually I just wait until there's a problem.

@Sartori boost and grit. They can actually get pretty dirty. I don't know all that much about Al other than he used them. I don't know if he used Ric-o-sound and ran them parallel or what.

Reverb can be cool before or after delay, just try it out and see what you like.

I only change tubes when they have an issue and do regular maintenance and minor repairs myself if I know I won't screw it up.

I noticed. I think I'd prefer the Reverb Machine for $50, but might also just keep using my friend's reverb for a while. He doesn't seem to care, and I'll see if I can find one used on the cheap.

Just sold my reverb machine Saturday lol. the RV-2 i am keeping has a nice reverb/delay Setting as well. I got mine for a good price, normally they seem to go for a lot more.

Al doesnt use ric o sound to my knowledge but he does split his signal between a few svts stacks and then a guitar half stack for the nasty distortion.

Yeah, not sure if he uses the stereo functionality of the bass at all or not. Definitely running some sort of stereo rig, though, with the SVTs and guitar stacks.

So I want to get a tone knob in a crybaby enclosure. There's many times when I want to go from roaring wide open tone to more rolled off in different songs, and it's always a bit of a hassle to try and do it while I'm playing. I've looked at the Fender Volume/Tone pedals, but they're a bit scarce and a bit pricey. I'm thinking either a modded Ernie Ball volume pedal or gutting an old crybaby and rebuilding the guts. Would I pretty much just need to replicate the tone knob wiring in my Precision bass within the pedal, or is there other components that need to be considered? I'd pretty much only use it with the Precision, so it doesn't need to be very complex. Any suggestions?

I have pretty much all I need besides reverb. If I went for a delay, I know what it would be, as I have one I like be in guitar, and it works just as well on bass.

Here is a super cheap way to have some reverb. I have had a couple of these. It has no speed knob so it just sounds like old school reverb. Plus you can mod them to work like an actual delay pedal. New for $15 shipped.

For sure, so many options and parameters for the price. A friend owed me $20 saw it in a pawn shop and got me that instead last year.

Worked nicely on everything I tried it on. Has an echo setting. Most settings though if the push the time and decay get very uncontrolled and are basically washy haunting delays.

I could easily tame it, but the RV-2 has a few settings I really like, and I can flip if need be later for much more.

Right? It's a bit of a stretch to do it with your pinky while playing, unlike on a guitar. It'd be way nicer to have it pedal mounted.

I think byoc and smallbear etc have wah enclosures and all the parts to do them up how you want.

That or find a cheap old Vox or crybaby. I got a model v847, very sturdy and easy to mod. Doesn't have a 9v out but you don't need one I guess.

Maybe get an EHX Screaming Bird Treble Booster and rehouse it in a crybaby enclosure?
