Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Its not really the mostly harmless that has turned me off. I think its more the carvin power amp that I have it running through. When playing it at high volume, compared to the verellen its almost like having cotton stuffed in your ears. It just feels like there is something missing and I either never got the knobs twiddled just right to bring out what i felt it was missing from it. I turned knobs for a couple of months and never got it to sound like what I wanted. Then i plugged the verellen back in and it was like having my ears cleaned. It all brightened up and filled the room more. I'm still not totally certain I'm going to ditch the mostly harmless yet cus at lower volume and straight into a DI it sounds pretty great and i love the matamp side for guitar.

You need to find a cs800 or an old lead sled stereo slave head for that mostly harmless...New class d is guttless.

Also this. You pretty much described my experience with the Prolite/SVP rig and my dually. Tunes or lead sled. Save class D for small gigs and grumpy old men.

Does the Meatsmoke have an effects loop? I'd be curious about running the MH into the tube power section.

Sadly no the Meatsmoke is about as base as it gets, two channels no effects loop no slave out. I'm pretty sure i should just sack up buy another tube amp and a back brace. Maybe i just need to convince Corey to trade me Mr Grumpy for it and have my verellen/dunwich/greenboy gang bang. Erbody in the doom community be ruinin they pants over it.

Hung up on the wall, its really not playable anymore.
What's wrong with it? Besides being stripped, that is.

Who cares? The second I heard of the Miku, I wanted it. Can't seem to find a singer, so maybe she's it! Also, I just have the find out what she sounds like with dirt before her. Does she sound angry with fuzz up front?
Sounds hella weird with fuzz in the video I saw.

I understand completely. Im not looking at buying anything over my budget, and will actually be saving money every month. So hopefully none of those unforseen expenses will be too bad.

I am very familiar with all of this. My parents decided to have 4 sons so that we could take over the maintenance of their house. :roflmao:

And this is what I have been doing, but rent around here is on the rise. I see no reason to spend $1500 a month on rent for a small 1 bedroom, when I can spend $1,000 on a house.
My place is $500 a month. Because I wasn't joking about subterranean pit. It's a basement of a carved up Victorian. My bed is below ground. It's hella illegal. No way could I afford a house.

I call dibs on the Mostly Harmless.

No effects loop? Lame. I might not use them, but I'd be loathe to buy a new amp without one.

With verellans customer service being the best in the biz, i wouldnt be surprised if ben would put a slave in on the amp for next to nothing.

nice one! Also gotta Blazer (82) in that Color. at least as good as my beloved mexican P. and I got it for a hundred bucks, the Prices start to rise for those (mostly around 400-600€ now in Germany).

To me they blow any MIM P out of the water. Neck feels so much better than a Mexican fender, body is really good wood, bridge is brass, stock they have great sounding dimarzios. It's been my main bass for 9 years now

What's making where you live so expensive?

Gentrification is driving up prices. A slew of students, young doctors, and hipsters are willing to pay more to live in an up and coming part of town. A little upgrade in amenities is bringing in a huge price jump. When I moved in to my apartment my rent was $490 a month utilities included. Since then the utilities have gone to me, and every 6 months my landlord has contacted me about increasing rent. He thinks he can get $1200 a month for my place, and I just dont see a 500ft^2 apartment being worth that.

I'd be staking out an abandoned Ford factory or sky scraper and starting my road warrior empire if I were you.

If I was on the other side of the state, I would have done like one of my friends did, buy a 10 story factory for $40k, live on the top floor, then rent the other floors as practice spaces.

My apartment is in a 100 year old house that has been cut in to three apartments. It isnt subterranean, but it isnt anything decent as a whole. The only reason I am in the position to buy a house is that I have worked 90 hour weeks for the last two years, and lived on a fraction of my earnings.

Vehicle repairs, had to fix my frig, and lots of migraines so yeah TFIF. Thank goodness for Kava.

Man, I really want a fridge, or at least a 6x10. My guitarist would never keep up though, and fridges are few and far between used in Oz.

I'd hook you up fat if you lived here in the states or wanted to pay the freight.

Dually 2 is finished. The builder is holding it for another week for testing purposes to avoid the issues we encountered with dually 1. I am very excited.
