Bummer update:

I touched base with the guy to emphasize my interest and try to get his availability. Apparently he had three 2 non pros, one of which is broken. That's the only one he'd be willing to part with. Apparently he is in a relatively well off Iron Maiden tribute band. Well off enough to have an engineer/tech. He is going to have the tech look it over and quote a repair and as-is. He says the "motherboard" is blown. Whether that's a component or the whole circuit board is unknown to me. I wouldn't be surprised if tubes were also needed, but that will obviously be negotiated. Assuming the OT is intact it's probably repairable, right?

Honestly I may walk on it. The only trade I'd be interested in would be an even swap. I'm not sure how much more I'd want to throw at a busted amp.

I doubt the entire PCB is bad, but there could be damage if a component really spectacularly failed. But yeah, if the transformers are good then it's still probably worth fixing.

Depending how expensive the fix will be, might still be worth it. SVT-II nonpros are worth a lot, and aren't as common as the Pro series version.

Downside is lack of a master volume and the drive feature, but if you mainly use pedals for overdrive, that's no big deal.

Just came to the realization that I have a gig every weekend night in July. I'm filling in for a local cover band, plus the country band has two shows and the Funk band too. I have no idea how the practice schedule is going to work. This is going to be hairy.

Certainly, there's just a bit of a time crunch as for practice, since I'm only having the first practice with the cover band tonight, and the Country band has only practiced like 3 songs, partially, sans drummer. It's gonna be a LOT of practice time.

Honestly I don't really have a preference between SVT models. My Sunn and V4B both lack a gain control (or rather a master volume)

I like having the master volume and tube OD but it's not like the amp will suck without those things.

I JUST missed a SVT 2 Non Pro newer tubes and an 810 for $800 locally! I couldn't really afford it right now but i was gonna snag it...missed it by a half hour.

Right now, the Morley Dual Bass seems to be well regarded, has two modes, and is reasonably priced used.

House show last night was awesome. Bunch of great bands a d the crowd got into it despite it being -3°C. So cold someone's old tube head froze up, but no major gear issues otherwise. We played pretty well, though singer forgot some lyrics.

-3 Celsius is slightly below freezing. Something around 20 is a nice medium temperature, not real chilly, not hot either. 30 is like 90 degrees Fahrenheit or close to it, IIRC. 40 is like middle of the Australian Outback hot.

Where I live winter goes down do -6°c regularly, and summer is 40+ regularly. It is almost never pleasant weather.

Also borrowed someones Boss DM-2, those things are rad.

Midwest US doesn't get that hot, but kind of the same deal. It's either cold, raining or hot with 90% humidity. Also ticks and mosquitos.
