How does a Peavey Valveking 100 sound with bass? There are a bunch of cheap ones flying around online.
No personal experience with that head, but I've played/owned the peavey rockmaster, Windsor, 3120 and they all worked. I have a 50w valveking combo and it's similar so I imagine it's good too.
Rockmaster has the most low end it seems to me, but I never had all of them at once.
Anybody know if I could use a DOD 285 as a simple headphone amp? I've got a Rolls Headphone Tap that lets me get a signal from the amp to headphones, but without cab emulation it always sounds really fizzy on the top end. Think this would eliminate that? Would a DI box be able to drive a pair of headphones? I'm terrible when it comes to knowing what will drive what. Thanks as always.

SHOGUN SLAYED!!! Packed this tiny punk house basement with amps and cabs and blew some young punk minds. Killed a keg of beer brewed in the land of sky blue waters, IN the land of sky blue waters. My tux standard decided to go crazy and turned its self into a radar bleep bloop machine and will have to go back to the tech. I hit an already dead deer with the van, no serious damage. Overall it was a blast. And a great first show for SHOGUN.
Now for first show round 2. I got added last minute to a show tonorrow as my solo drone project, Max Carl's "Frequency Therapy". Im using pretty much the same backline Shogun did, cabs at least...3 amps 5 cabs. Should be a hoot.

Not sure about the 285, but I use a Zoom multi-effect pedal as a headphone amp with amp/cab sim. Bought it cheap off ebay.
Oh, dang. Got them mixed up. Olympia's "It's the water!" or some such. Which, depending on your opinion of the beer always sounded like a funny slogan to me.
Yeah, I'm not going to drink anymore. I've been in a lot of trouble over the years because of it. It just doesn't work for me, it never really did. I don't have enough self control to relax and have a couple. I'm done being a drunk fat slob. I've been hitting the gym and eating better, lost 25lbs so far. I'm turning this franchise around! haha
Unfortunately I quit all my bands to get on the right path. Maybe when this is all over I'll get something going again. I just wanted to set up good habits. I need more discipline with my eating on the weekends. Still need to get my macros in order. But, you know baby steps.
Whatup? Was out of town much of last week, then a pair of great weekend gigs. Already moving slowing this Monday and it's sweltering outside.
The repaired Beta was up to the task on Sat night. Ran it into a borrowed GK 410 and Peavey 115. The PA was MASSIVE so this was really just stage volume. It was a good night.
Also, from the department of redundancy department, I bought @mlove's BB off him for the second time.

Also had another 2 nighter with the cover band this weekend. I've taken over the vocals on a few songs, and got to whip out the EB-3 for Sunshine of Your Love. Pretty quiet, but the pay was awesome, so it was like a paid practice. But whatever was up with the design of the room killed ALL the high end. Normally I can hear myself clearly with the 2000s rig, but I had to keep kneeling down to hear myself. The guitar player came over at one point and asked if I could turn up my highs and mids some more, and I had to tell him I was already running the treble at 10, contour at 10 and had the bass wide open. With Sing 66s. And I could not hear the high end. It was really weird. But like I said, overall decent.
But if I connect my headphone tap to the XLR out of the CAB Sim, I should be good. I think. I don't know. Getting a good, cheap DI isn't a bad plan anyway, for all sorts of reasons.

Having writing issues. We have a great singer, and I want to utilise her more, but our guitarist wants us to move in a more sludgy, electric wizard/ sleepy direction, which doesn't really lend itself to interesting vocal melodies.
Anyone know any doomy bands with wicked vocals? My kind of vocal melody 'muse' is The Sword, but they are more stoner than doom.
