Nash guitars are sweet though. I'm not that into reliced stuff but they sound great and play great. They are also fairly reasonable $$$$ for a handmade instrument.

My drummer has a Nash 73 deluxe tele semi hollow and it is one of the coolest guitars I've played.


I was getting ready to leave for practice tonight and discovered that my PP2+ **** the bed and apparently practice is cancelled....

Well the ODB was fun for the 10 minutes I played before I took a nap after work.

i'm kinda curious about them, but the only place i have ever seen them is at mesa hollywood :(

I'm not a fan of the "relic"-ing deal. It just screams "poser" to me. If you dare to venture out to the Basses forum and do a search on "relic", there's 8 billion posts about it.I know if I'm going to spend $2000 on a bass, it's going to be purty.

Edit: and by "purty", I mean a satin finished, shortscale 4-string that I will only spend about $600 on and have an extra $1400 for a massive amp rig.

I've always owned a pair of birks but never wear them, flops are always 5 seconds faster to put on.

I bet we'd get a discount if we ordered together, I too want that bass you described. Spend the rest on moth girl traps.

I was writing something similar last night and then just deleted it. IMHO create your own MoJo. Buying it is just fake. Like the pop star buying a punks jacket for fashion.

yeah it took me 12 years of beating the snot out of my gibson grabber in punk bands to relic it, time well spent:)

Except do it right this time. And if you can get Eminence to make JBL clones for your '65 Deluxe Custom, then you can get them to make a D or K140 for a proper Sunn replica.


My annoyance with relics at this point mostly stem from people asking if my instruments ARE relics and who I had do them.

"Oh man, that's a great relic job, who did it?"
"Uh, me, by playing the damned thing."


About the only time I'm okay with a relic jobs are if it's actually a vintage instrument, and say the body was refinished but the neck wasn't, so it's done to appropriately match the age and preexisting wear on the instrument itself.

Except they aren't handbuilt, they're parts guitars. Allparts or USACG IIRC.

I like rustic instruments, like Dismal Ax and the like. Stuff made out of reclaimed wood and hammered brass and bakelite knobs and that sort of thing. The whole relic on a new style instrument thing just looks gross to me. Then again, I take really nice care of my instruments. I want a 30 year old instrument that looks brand new, not a brand new instrument that looks like someone dragged it behind a truck down a gravel road. Especially rusted hardware. I do not want my hardware rusted, I've owned actual old instruments that looked like that honestly and they were hunks of junk (and I paid less than $100 for them). I had a National tele copy in the 90's that looked like it was recovered from a shipwreck and you couldn't adjust the bridge saddles if your life depended on it. I owned that because I couldn't afford a Squier at the time, let alone an actual Fender. Selling a Fender copy with a relic jobs seems to me like trying to get more for your lifted 70's Bronco truck by spraying it with mud, putting bald tires on it and knocking out one headlight.

Of course, everyone has different tastes. People can spend their money however they want and should. I'm sure plenty of people would think my taste in gear aesthetics sucks donkey butts.
