Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I may have a dissenting opinion. It's pretty great on guitar, but it hasn't convinced me on bass. It's got that highly compressed gainy sound in spades if that's what you're after, but it's not my bag on bass dirt.
Anyway, take this with a grain of salt. I bought it for guitar, where I like a bit more dirt in the signal. My time with it has mostly been for guitar, and only a few minutes on bass. Just not my sound. However, I do think many will like it on bass. Just not me.
Good luck with your new Carcosa! (And if you find some less gainy settings, I would be more than happy to give them a shot.)
That makes me wonder just a bit as it seems like there's not much in the way of bass demos, but it got the John Kallas seal of approval and that carried alot of weight (he and I agree on the Creation Labs Holy Fire, so I'm hoping we have similar tastes).
I'm tired of my Muff, don't have the money for a fancy boutique pedal and dislike the 48v wallwart of the aforementioned HF so I'm hoping this'll fit the spot. I've been real happy with my DOD250.
We'll have to find out, I guess.

Well, JohnK knows his stuff! I'm hit and miss with his dirt preferences. We seem to like similar low gain stuff, but I can't seem to like his high gain bass tone preferences (or most high gain bass tones in general). Lord knows I've tried. Still, it's no question he's a great resource for bass dirt. I have a few of his designs/mods myself. His Pork Loin mod is on both my guitar and bass rigs, and it's simply the most usable OD I've ever used!
I've spent probably less than 10 minutes on bass with the Carcosa, so it was by no means extensive. The plan is to do more, but that may be a bit. I bought the Carcosa as a guitar pedal, so that's not the main concern. It rips on guitar!
I do have to agree with the DOD 250, though. Couldn't quite EQ it rig for my rig, so I have a Quantum Mystic on the way which is a heavily modded 250. Should be fun to try out. Love my DOD stuff, though. Probably have about 25 of their old FX series boxes.
I have been busy as of late. Have not had the chance to mess with this or the mostly harmless. Will do so soon. Things are settling out plus I need to take some vacation time.

Tried the Carcosa some more today. Got some decent low gain sounds from it, but nothing I couldn't get with some other pedals I already have.
Had some gear gremlins today, and man they suck. A pedal died for no reason today. Opened it up, and a little wire fell out. Couldn't find a place it went, so I just put it together again. Worked again for no reason. Didn't do anything. Took an hour or so, but it works again. Weird. Hope it keeps working.

Sounds best when run concurrent with a clean channel through my ls2. I've been playing with the After control from about anywhere between 9 and 1. Hi-cut from 8 to 9 oclock.
As the red-knob Model T? Nah. With the model T -- please, @Sartori, @D.M.N., or anyone else, correct me if I'm wrong -- the general valuation seems to go highest to lowest:
70s silver-knob > 70s red-knob > Sunn-branded reissue > Fender-branded Model T
Though, in my limited experience, the reissue and the Fender one usually go for about the same since they're pretty much the same amp, Fender just switched the nameplate/cosmetics when they mothballed the Sunn name. From what I've read, that's what I understand.
Thanks. I'll give it a shot, sans LS2 as i don't have one. I tried before at 9ish, after at 11, and hi cut at noon, on Demhe. Got a nice overdrive.
I think I might just prefer muff sound over other types, and keeping the After on the low end has been the best way to get it, plus clean, just gives it rumble and not anger.

I have not. Thanks again. Maybe I'm old school, but I wish stuff came with manuals! Figured they didn't have one if a brand new one didn't come with a manual. I'll check it out now.
Pretty much. 1st Gen (silver), 2nd Gen (red), then the Fender/Sunn Model T, then the Fender/Sunn 300T, then the Fender Bassman 300pro. I assume that's what you mean by Fender-branded Model T? There never was a Fender branded version of the Model T reissue as it was basically a Fender Evil Twin/red knob twin from what I've heard. The Sunn 300T and Fender Bassman 300pro were identical amps, just different branding, but I have seen the Sunn versions at typically higher prices due to the name.
