Yes, that's what I was getting at. I knew there was a little more evolution from the Sunn Model T reissue to the Fender 300 amp. The bit of research I did after my post supports that evolution you laid out.

No, but they're a different circuit entirely. Though that's not necessarily a bad thing. The silver and red knob vintage Model Ts are different amps from each other, too.

There is no Fender branded Model T. They did turn the 50T combo into the Evil Twin, but there's no head version.

The amps that were rebranded were the 300T and the solid state 1200S.

I heckled the bass player in some random dad-rock surf trio that was opening for Southern Culture On The Skids. Granted, I gave these old farts credit for getting up there and not completely sucking, but they were doing little trade-off solo things towards the end and for his spotlight, the bassist started to slap and pop on his flatwound strings. It was embarrassing and so out of time with the other 2 dudes in the band that I wailed out in a mix of pain/anguish. Got a couple of 'what's that guy's problem?' looks, but whatthephuckever.

SCOTS and Mary Huff in particular are pretty great at what they do.

That's why I skip opening bands. The only time that came back to burn me was Reverend Peyton's Big Damn Band which might have been better than Reverend Horton Heat.

I only caught half his set, and I really regret that.

RHH have been around forever, so I get how maybe some folks are over it. Still an amazing band a paved the way for so many. Played a bunch of gigs with Peyton. Super nice folks, but I find their stuff really lame, sadly.

Been running a Mesa D800 for a bunch of my local gigs. For a mini amp, I've been really pleased with it.

Wow, all quiet on the stoner front, huh?

For the sake of discussion...

I've finally socked away a little cash for better cab sitch (I've been borrowing a friend's Carvin 1x15 loaded with an EV, not bad all things considered). I would toss this question to the Amps forum, but I can't deal with the I'm-not-gonna-read-your-post-but-just-yell-the-name-of-my-favorite-brand crowd this morning. My signal chain is Guild JS-2 > Boss RV-2 (long hall, everything dimed) > Sunn Sorado. The music is doomy punky ambienty drone, I guess. I play solo so no need to compete with drums or stacks though loud is good (obvs). I need to be able to drag this rig on the subway (on a cart with the Sunn) bc I live in NYC. Three options I've worked up in my price range plus a fourth for shiggles:

1. Have LDS (or similar custom cab maker) work up a sealed 2x12 with Eminence Beta-12s, 1.5cuft per driver in separate compartments. My Ampeg B50-R is a sealed 12 and I really like how it sounds. The Beta-12 seems pretty close to the driver Ampeg used for the combo and 1.5 is approx the internal volume. Plus I can have each speaker wired to its own external jack allowing me to use one at 8ohm or both at 4ohm (the Sorado has 8 and 4 ohm taps).

2. Have LDS (or similar) work up a sealed 1x15 with Eminence Beta-15, 3cuft. I've had the Beta 15 that I just threw in an old Acoustic cab without any real consideration of T/S parameters or such and liked it well enough. This driver in a sealed cab is on the recommendation of AstroSonic who's given me rock solid speaker advice in the past.

3. I have a line on a cab that has similar internal volume to the Greenboy Bassic 15. I could buy that and put a Faital 15PR400 in it and adjust the venting accordingly. I have never tried the Faital, but it comes so highly recommended on this board and I really like the sound clips I've heard. I've never played a neo cab I liked (a few of the bigger name brands) but I'm willing to keep an open mind and be convinced. I believe in progress.

And 4. Keep saving up money and order a BNA 1822 from dukeorock... To save that much might take me awhile but it could be worth it. It's new design that looks insanely cool.

Thats a tough question to answer. If you are looking for the sealed cab vibe, Mark's 1822 is pretty amazing. Still waiting for @dukeorock to let me try one. If portability is your more pressing concern, the bassic15 is an amazing cab that is light weight, small, and has great output for its size.

Yeah, I'm kinda leaning toward a Faital loaded cab of some sort... get a good loud light cab without breaking the bank and still be able to set aside some coin for a backup amp and, eventually, another 70s Guild bass. I do have a fascination with sealed cabs though...

The 1822 is also loaded with a Faital. My favorite neos overall, though the Eminence 3015 is no slouch either.

I've prototyped a sealed 212 with ferrite speakers that is pretty interesting. Crazy good lows and punch. On this current proto the sensitivity isn't really amazing, but it sounds great, IMO. Gotta take it out on more gigs and still gonna try another line of 12's before it goes public
