The one on the right is my old cheapo Peavey P-bass copy. Swapped the pickup out for a Rickenbacker bridge pickup, yeah. Required some routing and left a hole above it where the bottom two strings part of the P-Bass pickup was. Filled that with a spare piece of scrap wood and slapped the SubRosa sticker over it. Replaced the bridge with a BadassII. The volume knob I replaced with an old Soviet military electronics knob, because I hate barrel knobs (no way to know which direction they're pointing or how much rotation is left).

I just think Rics look strange without the full bling though! Vain, I know.

I come from the school of thought that if the instrument doesn't stay at whateve angle I put it at, it dives.

I've tried the 4 inch Levy's, Comfort Strapp, Mono Betty, and Neotech Megabass. None have gotten a bass that wants to move to stay where I put it. Maybe my shoulders are too scrawny.

The Mega got the closest, in case anyone was wondering. It's a bit too short though.

Yeah I'm down to share. I use an SVT CL into a Marshall VBC412. Are you still using the refurbed Sunn 215?

Understood. I kinda feel the same. When I get the 4003S refinished, I'm going to have the bridge pickup cover put back on.

My issue with the T-bird is that because the strap button is about four or five inches lower than it would be on other basses, since it's on the neck heel, it sits higher with the same strap, and I'm having trouble finding a strap that's both a nice and wide leather one but also long enough for it to sit where I want it.

Do you want to use your cab or mine? Would you mind terribly if I used your amp?

How do you feel about my amp your cab? I'm totally fine either way. I'd love to hear an SVT through that 215 but am more than happy to backline my cab as well.

I also know our drummer hates bringing his kit so if you wanna talk to your guy I'm sure he'd appreciate it. In the possible event we can get Black Spirituals to crash the bill I know it would be easier to sell a 4band bill to the booker if they could use someone else's kit too (they're a two piece and the other guy just plugs into the PA).

Sounds good to me. SVT amp through a 2000S cab. Maybe we'll cause an earthquake.

I dunno if our drummer will be willing to backline his kit. He might, but probably not the snare, which is vintage.

Oh naturally. Snare, cymbals, kick pedal are never part of a "backline" at any gig I've played. I've played some shows where not even cymbal stands or stool is considered part of the backline.

It's kind of a funny dichotomy between the two scenes I play in. Rock bands just kind of assume one of the bands will be backlining a kit and bass rig, and no one would really think twice if someone asked to use a guitar amp too. All of which is a huge weird deal at metal shows.

I agree that full-stock with cover is the best looking, but if you buy the bass to play it you do what it takes to make it work. Good news is none of these covers alter the bass. The one in the small pic is especially nice since the surround goes right up to the edge of the pickup, so if you swap back and forth with fender-style bases like I do, your thumb is in a more consistent anchor position and not moved away a half-inch with the stock Ric surround.

Lots of fuzz on the pedal board as well. I currently run the Science into both the Soundune cabs->Matamp into the Peavey->and the Carlsbro into the Sunn. Pants start flapping and the windows start shaking. For a smaller set up I run the Science into one Soundune and the Matamp into the other. Sunn and Peavey cabs are self explanatory, the Soundune cabs are a 4x15 for the one on the left and a 6x12 for the righthand one. Hope you guys like it!

Threw together an impromptu show last night in a recently vacated loft in the building I live in. Was able to get a couple dozen people to show up/wander in. My gf played a bit of her usual set and then droned on her keyboard for awhile. I usually never drink before playing but it was late and I had already recorded tracks for a couple hours during the day so I was a little tipsy by the time I started making noise. I think I wasn't entirely sloppy but I can't say 100% for sure. A couple other friends jammed out for awhile after me. We put a condenser mic deep in the room (cavernous room, high ceilings and all) and recorded it all. I haven't heard it yet but I'm curious how much of the room sound was captured and how badly I effed up my material. Really fun show. I wish they were all so breezy.
