I've never found a fuzz I really love, and tend to be with you on the amp overdrive. Also have a board full of dirt for when I use a solid state rig.


For record, here's my current heavy project. Started as doom, has ended up way more bluesy rock n roll!

Just posted a similar question in the Sunn Lovers Club... with my Sorado back up to spec, I'm starting to think back-up for those times it needs servicing, etc. Solidstate, reliable, and will get me 90% of the way there tonally. A vintage Concert Bass is an obvious option, but I wanted to know what other Sunn users/doomers use to get that big, clean, and round sound. Just trying to compile as many options to try out. Any ideas/experiences welcome.

Dumb question. Sold a T-40 neck to a TB'er, we didn't discuss price at all he just said he wanted it (Price posted in thread). Came back a day or two later and wanted a couple other items in the sale thread and offered a sum quite a bit lower than reasonable. I said no and he disappeared for a few days. He messaged me again later with some excuse about being drunk and not remembering that he didn't pay but wanted the neck, I said okay and that I'd ship when I got payment. So he paypals me $5 less than the price I had posted which was already priced lower than I could get elsewhere because TB'ers are generally less hassle than Ebay/CL. I didn't notice at first and just said thanks and that I'd ship tomorrow.

I feel like because of the earlier lowball that the shortchange was intentional. I don't care much about the $5 but it's just a poopy way to treat people. Am I crazy?

In my garage rock band I use a Sunn Sonaro, which isn't too far from your amp. As a back up I have old brit made Trace Elliott with a blendable tube and solid state preamp, on which the side is blown. Through just the solid state side it can dial in a reasonable facsImile. If you can find of these they aren't usually very pricy either. I have a Coliseum 300 I use as a back up in the heavier band, which is great, too.

Seems a bit shady... perhaps talk it over with a moderator of the classifieds? Be clear you don't necessarily want to bring the hammer down, but what do they think you should do in a sitch like this.

I'll put an old trace on the list... I haven't played one in a long time but remember liking them. And they're bright amps and the Sorado is definitely bright. The tubes though give it a bit more roundness... or maybe dimension is the word. Still, I'm just looking for a dependable fail safe. Thanks for the rec.

Usually running full on Hail Satan mode.
Lately the only pedal I'm using. The Tone knob is more of a sweep to get you there and the Mid and Highs dial it in.

I Play mostly chromes in my Garage/stoner band, I like the low mid ooomph and they are not clanky. works nice with od or a mammoth

I can get a tone quite similar to this with the nonreverse Thunderbird

I would just tell him, "Sorry I was drunk and didnt see your payment was short. Here is you money back if you dont want this at full price."
