Sartori - what brand/gauge strings do you use for BEAD? And do you have any problems staying in tune?

And I think your description of the general differences between the east and west coast scenes is pretty accurate. Sucks for me because I love black metal, but here I am on the east coast lol.

It does great! It's distortion isn't super grindy, if you're looking for that Rat type sizzle, though.

Also, somebody a few pages ago was speaking of Brian Cook from Russian Circles, and failed to mention he was in These Arms Are Snakes, as well BOTCH!!!

Thats a great way to put it actually...im looking for less of that sizzle. Agreed. Also botch man....botch

D'Addario XLs. Gauges 130 for B, 100 for E, 80 for A, 60 for D. And nah, no trouble staying in tune. About the same as E standard, really.

I just want to throw out there for B tuning the Ernie Ball Power Slinky 135 105 85 70 50 and throw out the high string has been my go to for awhile. Anything smaller then 130 has a weak fundamental at B to my ears but I like the 135 set more because its not nearly as floppy and the fundamental sounds "heavier." In my experience I'd say 135-130 for B 125-120 at C/C# 115 at D and 110 at E for me. Technically if you want to be fancy the Circle K/Kalium strings 142 gauge would probably be the best but I find it annoying to have to order and wait for strings to arrive instead of going to a store for them so I'm stopping at 135.

Played thru this last night at rehearsal, both guitarist are now scrambling to add another cab. That's a win.

I'm using a set of Chromes, now, .132/.100/.80/.65 and it seems to work out pretty well for me.

I need a set of strings for my other bass, and am tossing around the idea of rounds vs half/groundrounds at this point. I notice through Bassstringsonline.com that it's cheaper to buy a 5 string set and throw away G than to buy a set of BEAD singularly.

(actually, as a habitual string swapper, the chromes may move to the #2 and the halfwounds to #1)

I can't figure out if I need a G string or not.

I don't, when playing doom.

Since my favorite shop went to repairs only, I've lost my source for bass strings. Is it really cheaper to buy a five string set on bassstringsonline and throw the G out than to just order the right gauges?
