Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Black arts quantum mystic?

Ive tried it on bass, its not horrible. Its a little flabby but maybe more knob turning would get you there. Let me know if you want me to try and slap together a quick and dirty demo. I much prefer ocd or rat based pedals on bass personally. My dunwich volt thrower has been my go to dirt for a couple years now. The mountainking megalith is pretty much the guy for all out fuzz for me.

I own a Creation Audio Holy Fire, which you may be able to find for 150 used, and it's great as far as OD goes. You can really dial it in, and it doesn't really change your fundamental tone other than adding the grit.

The Grizzly Bass is the same thing with some added controls.

The Bearfoot Blueberry tends to get mentioned in the same discussions as the Creation Audio pedals. No first had experience there.

I'm looking for a good OD. Not a bass fuzz fan too much just to push it a tad. Mostly relying on the tubes to do most of the work. Local guitar center has Fulltone OCD and it was meh. I have a cheap Joyo pedal that sounds better IMO. Any of y'all play the SFT OD? Clips I hear sound great.

SFT is good. I have one.
My always-on on one board is the GK Rails - great OD.
The Pork Loin is also great, I use it on my other board as OD but not always-on. It has clean blend and you can dial in as much gain and brightness (with cap mod) as you like with no low end loss. It can be very subtle if you want, just an edge.
I also have a Fuzzrocious Demon, but it does have some low-end loss.

I have the WH Swollen pickle. Too many knobs, too much tone being lost. Fear the loin will do the same.

Pickle is completely different from the Loin. Pickle is a full-on super high gain muff with a deep mid-scoop. The Loin is a clean-blend OD with the ability to add brightness, no mid scooping.

Love the Rails Pedal! Use mine for a dirty boost to my OD, but it could definitely do as an always on OD for me if I needed it to.

I used to use the Swollen Pickle. Had the mid knob dimed for maximum gank. Never used it as an "always-on" pedal, though.

I would recommend the Dunwich ODB if you can get your hands on one. It does that old school thick gritty overdrive thing, from what I've heard in the demos. More of a drive pedal than a fuzz.

Fuzzrocious also has a number of pedals that could work for your needs.
