Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

In a couple of day I will be with all your tube heads.

I am getting an old just recently renovated Dunacord Bass King, 50W all tube head from '63/'64.

My plan is for it to take my active PA speakers place as the unit that handles more of the mids and high mids and slightly overdriven tone, while my solid state Trace Elliot GP75SM 130W 15" combo takes care of more of the low mids and lows.

I still haven't decided for a cab to go with it yet, but I ponder on a 4 10".

It's not exactly a beauty, but having owned a later version with a solid state preamp stage, still with power tubes, the Bass King T, as my first bass amp ever, I am quite sure it will deliver :bassist:

Yes, with kind of gizmo: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Thanks! That's awesome!

Now... are there any good auto-wahs that can use an expression pedal?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That thing is funky and cool.

If you're going to use it mainly for mids and overdrive, I would go with a 212 or a 15.

You can control the filter via the expression jack:

Very cool. Wish the demo presenter was better, though.

I would prefer just a wah rather than a drive that's also a wah. Having to hit the thing every time would be kinda annoying, too. But maybe the best option. Especially since I was thinking about going with the Moog flanger.

I bet that guy is inordinately proud of his footwear.
Yes. He's that kind of guy I couldn't stand being in a band with, most likely.

Think I settled for the good old viable solution of using a single 15" for the Dynacord as well.

I guess the thought about a 4 10" was just wanting to try something different than what I usually use, but I guess there's no need if it works.

So now, once I receive my new tube amp, my set up will be my Trace Elliot solid state 130W combo with a single 15" via the tuner output (preamp output at instrument level and impedance) into the Dynacord Bass King and into another 15" cab.

in an attempt to actually use my pedals live i have discovered that the d180 pushed with the L2000 is gonna be hard to replicate

rounds on the LB100 with the dark driving - trashy dark od tone, kinda bloomy like cranked sunn 2000s
flats on the sb-2 with the no diodes rat tail - surprisingly i'm getting a very tasteful vintage ampeg fliptop od (feedback loop is good to for bridges and intros)

mr echo will hopefully gel so well with the L2k that i can do the delay slams in lieu of stepping on thom's feedback tones or his distortion, but the rat tail with the sb-2 might rule too, becuase then i can use the delay slams and the feedback loop, decisions decisions

Been a long time since I posted in here, so bear with me, but I've been listening to a lot of YOB lately. So perfect in many ways.

Anyone around Madison WI? My buddies band Bereft is having their CD release show March 30th w/ Bongzilla, ASEETHE and Dos Males.

Bereft are killing it, I genuinely love their music and they have morphed so much as they have grown. This new release is a lot of fun.

Here's a pic of a custom one I took recently
Exactly... Custom. Your picture from the meetup gave me the GAS as this is what I'm looking to build ish. Still trying to decide if a Jazz nut width is something I can live with long term. Need to take the Black Eagle to practice and try it out more. I'm so used to the ATK700 neck now. But this is between a P and J nut profile.
