I think it's the guitar single coil fear of ice picky sounds I have ingrained in me to use 250K with single coils, I must break free of my treblist ways...

Actually 1000-1500 through a '66 is pretty crushing. Anything past that is just headroom which doesnt make me sad.
I had a wicked tone coming out of the bass, bluebeard, and Ultimate drive, with a nice slow riff going and thought this is what I need to record for Pelham. Had the pickup volumes balanced just right too and what I felt was a proper stoner riff and like a dolt I started knob twisting and just couldn't dial that sweet spot back for nothing afterwards. Broke the golden rule of set it and forget it
Well, looks like I complained too soon, might be able to salvage a camping trip this weekend after all. Which is good - because I have a shitload of trees to cut and I don't want to be in the middle of nowhere chainsawing trees by myself. Most of the trip will be work - but it needs to be done, and I'll have firewood for the rest of the season and then some.

I think the crown is two rack spaces. It's not heavy, but I was interested in making this rack setup as light and low profile as possible. Still on the fence if I should keep the intellipitch, and if I do where it should go.

I have a Crest ProLite 3.0. It is 2u, but it is a short amp so it can go in to a shallow rack case. I have run a Peavey IPR extensively in the past as well, also a great amp.
If I was buying a Carvin new it would be a DCMLx for the DSP. If used the HD series is pretty sweet too. Just have to make sure your pre can drive the input sensitivity properly.
Think of it as with bigger pots you can go further up, but still turn down of your not happy.
Slightly Overwound Texas specials eliminated the ice pick in the telecaster. Affinity/mim guitar pickups have been disappointing to me in that regard.

Thanks, light is good, though 1 space sizing and cheap yet reliable would be my choice over 2 space if that exists.

Yeah, we 40 acres of property in the hills about an hour and a half from here. Used to belong to my grandparents, now it belongs to my mother, aunt and uncle. Right now my wife and I use it the most, aunt and uncle use it for a couple days for deer hunting, but I'm up there most weekends at least for a day trip.
We're doing a DNR managed forest program to get a break on property taxes, but there's a lot of maintenance that needs to be done. Dead trees need to come down, paths need to be cut/mowed and maintained. My folks are getting too old to take care of it and since I'm the only other one in the family that cares I get to take care of it. I don't mind, I love being there and I get to use it for camping, gardening, foraging, shooting, etc. Camping on private property is the BEST. No annoying neighbors, no drunk ******** making noise (other than me or my friends), it's free to stay there... camping in a crowded state park or somewhere similar seems really poopy and lame now, I've been spoiled.
I can get the typical clean bass and a bit of dirt tones fairly easy. But I'm a relative newby to fuzz and high gain, got so burned out of distortion by the 90s that I played cleaned guitar all those years after until I stumbled on the Stoner/Doom thing from jam band burn out. Fuzz and dirty dirty bass is much more challenging to simple old me.

You dont have to bridge a power amp. Actually the 3.0 or IPR3000 is just about right at 4 Ohms running one side for the Dually. The issue about 1u amps is they restrict air flow a lot, which reduces the reliability IMHO. Heat is the enemy, and more air flow is better.
Maybe building my own rack box would help too. Do you just jam a power strip in your rack to plug your pre and power in? A rack based power conditioner just bulks stuff up.
I find that attaching a power strip to the back of the rack works well. You can get short IEC cords to keep everything tidy too. I have seen some nifty mounting placements of different power strips too.
