Instead of an alpha bass amp GC shipped me a POS peavey pa. Apparently they mislabeled it for the Alphabass online. That was a real shaging downer. So I got the RB800 instead. Probably a better deal

cooked an svt6 yesterday at band practice.
Replaced it with at Mesa M9.
I was shocked how much more I preferred the sound of the svt6. The mesa was muddy and undefined where the scvt6 cut like a knife. I expected more versatility out of the M9.
Still prefer my SVT CL over the 6 but i I saw one for the right price i'd be tempted.

Weird...tons of eq on the M9. I love mine and it is pretty easy to shape, I think. But everyone is different, I reckon!
I liked the sound of the ampeg way better but I can't say it was a better amp. The mesa worked where the svt smelt like burnt tires.
Wow. I just googled peavey 400's. Didnt know they were a thing. Damn, now i wanna know how it sounds!

It sounds exactly like a slipped disc in your late 30s. J/k it sounds awesome, but is incredibly heavy
I realized a couple years ago - after hurting myself - that my tube amp stays at home unless I have help moving it.
Class D stinks but i beats begin laid up.

No, not a bold statement at all. A joke. If you can't handle the weight of a tube head, don't play one. I don't care. I presume the post was teasing (?) cornfarmer about it. So I teased the poster. I don't care if you have a bad back. I believe cornfarmer was just sharing the joy of his recent purchase/clean up job.
My backs fine brah. And I'm no hercules. I wouldn't write off any equipment because of weight. But that's me. Opinions differ. I'm probably in the minority here on that point.
I guess you took the comment about the weight of it as a 100% serious stern warning on the dangers of lifting heavy stuff. I thought it was playful ribbing/teasing. Hence my comment. I sure he's fully aware how heavy the head is. As I'm sure the rest of us could guess its no 5 pounder.
