Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I've given up on finding a band for the time being - not by choice.
I write and record stuff in my basement to fake drums until I find some people. I find that more satisfying than being pissed off by guitar players, i don't know why but its always guitar players...
Stuff I'm writing now seams to be somewhere between Napalm Death and Uprising/Morning Star ear Entombed which is noting like stuff I've previously played but tons of fun.

I don't know what to call your tune that doesn't have belly dancing or bollywood in the subject but it sounds cool though. Are they real drums or are you using a program?

Still have my Tascam 414 from back in the day.
I scour Kijiji for high bias tapes and hoard them whenever possible.

Yeah Ive seen guy's selling blank cassettes on Kijiji recently and they dont go cheap, Ive got a shytt load from way back that I can still use so Im set for awhile.

I like creating on my own when away from my band and the sound I create is totally different, its never like the music any of my bands make. Any of you do that?. I'll leave this here, if you can label it please share as Im curious as to what you hear?. Share one if you got one.

Thanks, I think I did have a Flanger mixed in there, I used a Zoom 404 and I tweaked the hell out of a few different effects and unfortunately I reset the pedal back to stock programming and lost my saved patches. How I arrived at some of those settings I may never know or hear again.

Had a BFX708 forever it seems like. While so many of the sounds that thing makes are overprocessed I really dig the modulation effects. The chorus can go mega slow and incredibly deep. Haven't found a good analog equivalent.

Here's a song from about 15 years ago where I used it.



How do you enjoy using yours? I replaced mine with a huge DigiTech BP8 about a year after that was recorded cause it felt more durable, being metal.
I stopped using the DigiTech live cause it broke. The Zoom, while plastic, still kicking.

Just goes to show you can't predict what's gonna last.

I've had to re-solder the connections inside my old Zoom 708 so many times I couldn't possibly count it. I still have it somewhere.

No. That's my best man Mitch. One of my earlier bands The Striking Method. I'm not so good at the singing and playing simultaneous. I can manage punk chorus but that's about it.

You know what really makes a tone quest (and keeping pedal settings consistent) tough - a toddler! On one hand, I’m proud he’s figured out all the knob-twiddlin’ and footstompin’, but on the other hand nothing sounds right anymore!

That's one reason why I take pictures of my settings. I haven't the guts to take a marker to em yet.

I use a pedal marker. Its like a liquid chalk so it comes off easy with a damp rag but staya on pretty well otherwise. Never been worried for my pedals finish
