we decided to make this a release.

New cab day! Picked this up for $100. It is in pretty decent shape for it's age. I just need to replace a few casters. I may eventually replace the grill cloth to match my head.
Only had time to listen to both a short bit. Great sound, gonna go back and listen through when I get the chance.

Which strings do you guys use for BEAD tuning? I'm in process of converting one of my basses to lower tuning for this new project. The guitarist has a Schecter 8-stringer and insists I should go at least down to B.

if you want to sound down tuned, as in the extra floppiness and fret buzz that is associated with the down tuned sound, especially the dunlop set.
if you want to maintain the tonal characteristics of your standard tuning then you'll need to go 120+
Haha. Funny you mention Yob, I just got to work a bit ago and am listening to them right now. Def agree, they are absolutely killer live. I saw them about 2 months ago with Bell Witch. I'm still floored

I've used D'addardaridorito Chromes in 45-132 and currently GHS Pressurewounds 44-128 sets and chucked the G on 34" basses.
Saw them in Denver in July and last night as well. They are amazing live - even following other good acts, they are on another level in terms of their energy & performance. Pretty amazing.
GHS makes a set of Bass Boomers for BEAD tuning 65-130. I have a pack, but haven't tried them yet. looks like the part number may be 4M-B-DYB.
For years I've been using D'Addario Nickle Wounds EXL170-5. It's a 5 string set and I just toss the high string in the trash. Ends up being the 65-130.
It was my first time seeing them and it was waaaay better than I thought it would be. There were times I was in awe of the sheer brutality and force of the music.
I agree Acid King was dope but yob was super intense. Next weekend is Sleep in San Pedro, it will be my first time seeing them, I cannot wait!

If reverb, small room stuff or big hall/cathedral style? Obviously, this logically goes at the end of the chain, right? If delay, then... err.. I don't even know where to begin. Do you put that earlier in the chain before all the dirt or at the end?

Either I'm getting old or just living under my rock again, but what's the deal with reverb on bass? Are you guys using it with real slow sludgy stuff, or riff-age or ? I can see it being cool in certain situations, same with delay. Just never tried using either live, but anything goes when recording of course.

Never used reverb for bass but i frequently use chorus and delay for more ambient parts. Ive always played in a 3 piece band though so the extra sonic space probably has something to do with me being able to use it.
Also i always put delay after my dirt, but before my other modulation so if i send it into feedback it is still being modulated.
