I have a fresh set.. at home I think the tests are delayed to tomorrow morning

Not as impressed as I hoped
You can tweak a lot and get a lot of sounds from those pickups and it sounds really awesome on the higher strings. Really awesome. And pinch harmonics seem screams from hell. But on the E string it goes nowhere close to the Kramer. The Kramer is A LOT fuller and more defined. This was really unexpected. I don't know if I can compensate for that with equalization but in this moment I'm disappointed because now I can't say I have a STRONG preference for any of these two basses.

If by that you mean lack of harmonics, maybe it's just that the string is dead. The E is the fastest to die, and usually the one with less tension (i think you already know this, but the emotion is getting in the way of thinking)

I'll try tomorrow with a fresh set of Daddarios (the ones I use on the Kramer) but I suspect it's just the Di Marzio pickups that have a better response on lows
Anyways I wouldn't say it's a lack of harmonics, seems more like a lack of punch and definition

Yes, to test that, try tuning the A string to D and compare the two

Ugh. So I found out why the neck on that Dean bass was cracked and I had somehow never noticed it until much later. I had the 4th off and I was tearing it apart because the neck is shot and the neck pocket was cracked and my sister comes over (to borrow money, that's the only time I see her) and she asks about what happened.

So I tell her, and she said that when my uncles and cousin were over visiting from out of town a while back my cousin's son dropped it off of the wall hanger. I went to pick up some pizzas my uncle ordered and he went in my room while I was gone and dropped it off of the wall hanger that's like 7 feet off of the floor, then just put it back. Apparently nobody thought to tell me. He's like 26 BTW.

If he doesn't have any kind of severe mental illness, i agree with Graham

Even if it was $5, I'd never see a cent of it. He's one of those perpetually unemployed types, I'm just glad he didn't steal anything. I didn't even want him in my house but I was being civil and figured the other adults could keep an eye on him for 15 minutes. Guess not.

It's better to let it be in my opinion. There's a saying in my country: "never argue with crazy people". You might end up with more than a bass neck damaged

I have no intention of even bringing it up. Besides, it was like $80 for the whole thing and I originally bought it just for parts anyway. I've already put all the hardware on another bass and I'm looking for a project to stick the electronics into.
