there are some songs where the guitar is tuned to drop Ab or. Bb, i don't follow him. we just play in the same octave for those.
I believe it, would love to see them.
And all this talk of J necks on P's makes me miss my old PJ. Jazz necks on P's are the bee's knees, and oddly enough Pbass necks just work on J's. I love jazz necks and really don't care for a 1.75" but at least on the one jazz I tried it on it sounded better somehow...more mass?
The lowest I've tried is F with a .190 gauge string. It's difficult to explain but it sounded "hollow" I'd assume because all I was hearing were overtones. I had a normal fender scale length I'd only try going that low again with something that had a 37" or 39" scale it might improve the fullness of the sound.
The band I'm in now is currently in B standard and I'm using the big 4 strings on the ernie ball power slinky .135 set and throwing out the high string but we are talking about going down to Ab I'll probably switch to somewhere around 160 gauge, I was planning on researching this forum a bit to nail down the gauge then picking up a set from kalium strings assuming they are still around since I haven't ordered from there in years I actually don't know.
So yeah if you're going to try going E0 low you're going to need very heavy gauge strings and probably an extended scale length and you're probably going to need a FearFul/Fearless tuned for that kind of low tuning and a lot of class d watts or some sort of subwoofer/PA setup to get a good tone. If you don't already own this kind of gear its going to be expensive but that's probably your best bet.
Or you could just tune the same as the guitarist like Meshuggah does which does sound cool but it is a specific sound. Plenty of low end there. Does anyone know what the bassist from Black Tongue does because that guitarist is very low tuned.
I've tried G on my 37" Dingwall with a .135, a bit loose but doomy and doable. I have a LDS Dually 215.
Received my MXR bass distortion and Dunlop Cry Baby Bass Wah.
The wah is great, the controls are very useful - there's a volume and a 'Q' control. The Q sets how wide a sweep the pedal does. And the vol lets me set it at unity gain.
The MXR is a solid pedal, but I am realizing that I'm not a fuzz or distortion guy when it comes to bass. Granted, my signal is far from clean. The thick tone I get from a cranked up 800rb and the pork loin is beautiful. Its in Geezer or even Jack Bruce territory.

”Geezer” is exactly the way I describe my Pork Loin. It’s my pedal of choice for OD style doom.
Never tried the Pork Loin. I like a fairly dirty, but distinct bass drive, so I usually go with my B7K with the drive around 3:00 and blend about the same. I’m running an Aguilar AG700 so there’s no gain from the head to speak of really.
Sounds like a Pork Loin would be a nice addition.

Anyone here ever try a Throat Locust? Got one on the way for my guitar rig, but of course I have to run it through the bass rig too. Seems to be the most flexible HM-2 that is readily available. Hoping it can replace my noisy BYOC Swede. Tried a boutique HM-2 a while ago, but it did nothing for me Tone-wise but cost more than my actual HM-2. I’m hoping with my recent luck with other Earthbound Audio Pedals that this keeps the streak of being in the right tonal ballpark with just a few necessary tweaks, instead of just adding a blend or new diode or decoupling the mids or something. Here’s to hoping!

I can't mentally justify owning any more basses my 2 nice ones are too nice and I already have 4 and don't play the other 2 much. Please share a few throat locust clips with bass there weren't really that many I'd like to hear it in different context then I've heard. BTW I'm curious if anyone here uses or has experience with the Idiotbox Effects Landphil? I just heard about that company that and sounds really nice on the clips they have.

As for the Landphil, I’ve used its little brother the Blower Box in the past. It was good, but I couldn’t get past the dizziness of the dirt. I know the Landphil has EQ knobs to tweak each band, so hopefully that can be remedied. I’ve actually also wondered about the Landphil, as there is a dearth if info on it. I recently thought about picking one up, but with no clips etc., I wasn’t willing to risk it with my previous experience.

In all seriousness, while this is absolutely crap to happen to anyone, it seems that most of those pedals are from builders that can make him new pedals... Besides the sentimental value, which can admittedly be huge, I pretty much recognized the names of almost all of those pedals and know that they can be found or bought rather easily since those companies are all still active. The pedals are all addressed to him, but beyond that, they don’t appear to be “one-of-a-kind” by the descriptions given. My pedals are all “one-of-a-kind” in that they have unique scratches etc., but the circuit is the same as the others. I am sure builders could capitalize on this by “donating” him a pedal or two to replace them.
As for Delta not honoring their claim, THAT is utter nonsense. Own up, take the blame, figure out who would have done it, can them, move on. I don’t understand how they could say that they aren’t responsible.
Dude, anyone who's flown commercially should know that airlines give zero fcuks about customer service. I think it's worse in the EU based on what I'm experiencing in Spain right now.
