Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

That's my kind of religious experience!
Ahem, back to some music stuff...
I got some jamming time set up with a good friend/former BF this weekend. We both play bass and dig metal... and generally got along really well musically...so we're going to go work on some stuff this weekend.
He also does some guitar, some drum programing and a couple other instruments, so it'll be nice to just hang out and make music with someone again.
He's a huge Intronaut fan so whatever we end up doing will be end up being weird, jazzy and heavy. I'm dragging my fretless 5 over and a ton of effects that I don't normally use so we're going to see what works and just mess around. I think we both have some ideas that we want to get more fleshed out both from a riff perspective and in terms of song structure.
From some of our other jams we've sort of started getting a more progressive Extinction Level Event vibe going on, so I'm kind of excited to see what develops.

"Weird, jazzy and heavy" sounds like just the type of thing I'm after. If you get to the point where you can share any of it, I'd love to hear it.
@bassboysam totally agree. I used to do a weekly mystery buy at local record shops and whenever I traveled. Never more than $5-10 except on trips for an album based purely on band or record name, or artwork. I rarely allowed myself to buy one from an artist I knew of unless I didn't have any of their records. I've found some of my favorite records that way.
Been down that road. The mystery buys have been an awesome way to Branch out in a fun way.

Nope, didn't even know about it. They're a band I need to give a second chance to. Wasn't a fan, but it's been awhile.

Ran-dumb fact about your boy... Back home in Tampa, there was a rock station, 98ROCK. My football coach gave me that number saying, Joe, you fvcking rock! Here’s your number. I know some of you guys have played sports. I played because my dad couldn’t. I kinda lived his dream, in his honor after he died.
Yeah seems like a really cool live band they randomly came up on my youtube scroll and like 3 months ago and just started getting into them, really unique band and love the songwriting. I don't even like country, at all, but these guys really surprised me at how much I like them. Then I found out there's strong Christian themes later when I read the lyrics which was interesting.
Very cool! I have heard a their albums, but haven’t read up on the lyrics at all. There’s still a slim chance I will be able to go, and I’m hoping it pays off lol.

I am going back and forth between a B7K Ultra and an X7. Not very stoner/doom though.
When I was doing that, I had a proto-type Dunwich Bass Driver as my always-on, and either VT or OBD in a loop with a custom blend pedal.
I had tried every fuzz on the market and never found one I liked. Tried few HM2 clones as well. I settled on drives being more my thing.
