I cannot get past my blended Hilbish. It is so damn awesome!

I put a fuzz back on my board last night. Still use the blasting GK amp with the pork loin. But I was missing that messy goodness a superfuzz brings. Actually our guitar player suggested I use the fuzz again for a few bits in our songs. I need to listen to him more often. hahahaha

Also, got the new parts bass up and running. Sounded great with the band last night. I did find it has a slightly different personality compared to my other jazz, which is weird as they have the same pups (DiMarzio Model Js).

The 2 major differences are that the black one has that Brazilian Ebony neck and the hipshot kickass bridge. Its a tad brighter than my 60s style jazz. Was kinda surprised.

Could be that the chromes on it haven't died yet.

I’m only using the B7K and a Pedalworx Hellbilly ran into that Boss LS2 or whatever to blend in the clean signal. I’d really like to get a Rat style pedal, but I have no clue which to start with. Lol

I love a rat with a dying battery. I don’t know if anyone makes a rat with such a feature, but I’m definitely going to mess with it when I start fooling with pedal builds - a good winter hobby.

+1. I want to build another superfuzz but use a more stable transistor (mine has a Ge one that can get squirelly depending on the temperature in the room) a more usable volume knob (seriously anything past '1' is a ridiculous volume boost) and maybe a clean blend circuit.

This is a great variAC pedal. At 15V, it's a great distortion and at 5V, it gives that dying battery breakup but never actually dies

I haven't been doing too much out in fuzz land these days... Mostly paying with a dash of OD from a microtoobs X @12v with a pinch of compression and a lot of gain. I still need to get my boss ODB3 cleaned out and behaving a bit better as that is a surprisingly crunchy OD.

Kind of an old shot of my board but the X, SD and 420 are kind of mainstays. I have a ms60b instead of a tuner on it atm...

Yeah seems like a really cool live band they randomly came up on my youtube scroll and like 3 months ago and just started getting into them, really unique band and love the songwriting. I don't even like country, at all, but these guys really surprised me at how much I like them. Then I found out there's strong Christian themes later when I read the lyrics which was interesting.

I've seen Wovenhand twice, to wildly different effect. First time was at the 2018 Fire in the Mountains Fest. Maybe it was just that they were so different from virtually every band, and some of my favorite bands had already killed it that day, but they didn't do anything for me. Second time was opening for Om this year. I enjoyed it a lot more, mostly because they had the drummer front and center and it was a real pleasure watching him play. From what I could tell, a really good drummer. I still don't ever listen to them when I'm putting on music, but I'd go see them live again and probably enjoy it.

That's a sweet piece, would love to try one.

As the pic shows I've been mostly using the 250 for extra dirt and kicking in the Acapulco, 360 fuzz, or the muff on the zoom lately. The boneshaker adds some nice dirt, but I mostly use it for EQ. As a whole though I use the tube drive on my Ashdown for my base grittiness and the others for effect or specific songs.

I've seen them often. Being in Denver, I guess we get the tour starts and ends and the occasional headline show. I don't like country, and I like Christianity even less. Because of the heavy folk and rock influence, I just don't hear them as country, thankfully.... and they definitely are not a praise band. You cant really understand the vocals clearly in a live setting anyway, so I just let myself believe he's addressing the spiritual struggles we all experience. I avoid reading the lyrics so I don't have to know. I've met his band, and even his daughter, and there is not a jesus vibe coming off any of them, thank christ (2/3 of his band are Planes Mistaken for Stars)

They're playing Larimer in September... Ill be there. And that drummer was likely Ordy, and he is super good! He's excellent in his other band, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, as well.

Pallbearers - Heartless album is kind of the perfect example of that; though I don't love that record personally, maybe because of its progginess.
Elder? Not really doom or prog but elements of both and the last album was a great listen.
Some Paradise Lost albums/songs could fit that label too?
Interested in what you come up with.

I second Elder as proggy doom, though I once described them more like the Allman Brothers playing doom.

Spaceslug's latest album has a lot going on. One could call it progressive.

Lord Dying, especially their newest is a mix of quite a few metal styles.

Yob, They don't play by the numbers doom and excel at long twisting songs.

InterArma, though their newest leans way more on death metal then their last few (not that that is a bad thing)

Khemmis, though they are more of an eclectic blend of metal old and new.

King Goat, similarish to Khemmis. Doomy but with helpings of NWOBHM moments, etc.

Clouds Taste Satanic are closer to straight doom, though they are instrumental -- the long compositions rely on a good deal of changes to keep interest.

Howling Giant is another band that takes elements from a bunch of places. Wrote a concept album [EP?] or 2 as well.

On the sludgier side, Slabdragger. They use the kitchen sink of heavy and doom styles and also seem heavy on conceptual albums.

Been listening to a lot of Elder, Iah, Re-Stoned, Comacozer, and Naxatras lately. Those and revisiting sone older Fu Manchu has been my listening this week.

I do need to seriously look at Rat variants as well as a volume pedal that doesn’t suck tone.

Totally agree with Elder, Iah and Naxatras, haven't heard of the others but discovering more music is what this is all about, rite!

Also I'd throw Red Fang out there. They're hilarious, tho they're a bit more concise with their song writing/lengths.

The ugly pedal is an HM2 clone in one of the LS2 loops. The other loop is the P&C.

The HM2 either runs with the "green" loop in clean, or with the P&C on but still turned down with the mix of the P&C passing a chunk of clean plus the weird thing it does.

I'm trying to convince myself to not buy another overdrive, used, from the local GC becuase it looks cool, is cheap, and is foreign. How much crap do I need?

I'm looking for an EQ pedal, the MXR seems good and has a good price but the fact that it's 18 volts is a little annoying
