Fretless doesn't get much love in almost anything because its a decent $$$ investment for something that might not work for you and is almost impossible to sell. The resale value of them is...Not good.
Recently upgraded the pre in my SR505 to a Bart. Love the tone even more now. I went with the NTMB. What did you choose?
one of the beautify things about fender-style guitars/basses:i purchased a neck from the classifieds for dirt cheap, pulled the frets, and refinished it. i definitely dig the speed i can get without frets for thrashy stuff but the ability to slide and do crazy bends is great for a lot of stuff
NTBT with active/passive, new pup and series/parallel/single switch were installed by the previous owner. It sounds pretty killer,
For some reason I can't edit this post.. But I figured out the noise problem... I had phantom power turned on, on the AIO. Doh.
Turns out my preamp/di and an sm57 don't like phantom power. Who woulda thunk...
I'll try this again with a better put together riff tomorrow. Its pretty cool one can run an AIO into a phone and it works out ok when doing video.
Hehehe, yeah. It's hard not to clip a phone mic with heavy distortion. Your results are a lot better than some, the mic is only popping a little bit. It still sounds good, and you can tell what's going on with each tone change.
I know tort and P basses are played out but I really prefer the look now without the white guard. I’ll have to file it a bit to make it fit but 10 bucks from stratosphere was too good.
I picked up a Dunlop bass wah the other day. I like it having more control than just an envelope filter is a plus and it sounds killer with fuzz.

My work schedule is not that heavy, but while I found it interesting at the beginnng, lately I'm feeling it only steals time to the stufd that really matters to me, and I'm not doing anything useful... Actually, I serve a system I despise (I work in the automotive industry) and find stupid and ridiculous.
My drummer has a much heavier work schedule, but he saves lives at leastHe can go home tired, but proud of what he's doing. It gives you a totally different motivation
I'm in OEM auto too, I felt your pain for a time too. I'm grateful that my parents valued education and helped me along that path which got me out of that situation quick.
Right out of college I was a brick layer, and to be honest that created a lot of disillusionment toward education at first due to debt. I was making $20/hr doing that and if I had gone into skilled trades as an apprentice (mind I was small time and the master mason decided I was skilled enough to teach me) I would have been able to work and have trade school paid for. Hard work and a wrecked body reminded me that I was glad I could use my degree.
I then went into QC for sugar at a measly $13/hr before getting into ink QC at $17/hr. All while having $60k in debt which was $700/month in payments... I lucked out and ended up in development and launches then making my way into paint doing the same. After getting sick of working in the lab (the degree equivalent of work on the production line, ie extremely repetitive and dull) , I found my way to being a field technical rep for a paint supplier working at big 3 paint shops. It's amazing what's being done here. The hourly rate isn't a ton better, but with the hours and the rewarding work it's worth it.
All throughout that I've kept in mind and daily see the hard, repetitive, and dull work that the people on the lines do. I truly value everyone of them (that don't try to find a way to fake FMLA out or hide). I bust my ass everyday to find ways to make their job easier and get the best product out the door. It's a unique position because I'm here to troubleshoot and fix issues. The labor I do is not hard on my body, but I'm all over the 1/4 mi shop on foot all day everyday, which is exhausting and demanding. I always value the insight of the people on the line. Ironically, it's a constant battle between trades, production, and management.
My hats off to you and all those who do that. It makes me appreciate my parents and up bringing and I try my damnedest every day to make it better for everyone. I'm no model employee, but I try my best. One thing I always remind myself is that I'm not better than anyone else. We're all needed to keep this running.
Whew sorry for the ramble! I understand I was fortunate for my circumstances. I don't think college is for everyone, but...idk don't know where I was going with that. Any thanks haha.

I'm not in OEM. .. I would have found more fitting to my personality actually. I'm a 3d modeler so the B.S. I deal with is like the idiot trends in car dwsign and making it cool like this or that competitor etc and all those ridiculous high-end gadgets like ambient lights on the doors that they take in all seriousness and please move this line 1mm higher and make it more dynamic. Which I could not care less. I don't even own a car LOL.
And the colleagues, jesus christ...
Lots of "design school" hipsters and snob idiots whose only interest in life is cars and refurbishing their homes with "design" toilets, bidets, and taps and fittingsAnd design lamps, design kitchens, design alarm clocks, design cat litters, etc ect
I have to stay all day with headphones and music at 100dB on to prevent me from using a flamethrower when I hear all their unstoppable idiot "design" and "cars" smalltalk
I find this whole field grotesque, inherently leaning toward idiocy.
Damn, that's worse. I'm glad I haven't been in that end. I've been in a few marketing meetings and that sounds like the same kind of people...the flamethrower sounds about right. Nothing worse than people like that with their BS nose up mentality and fake personalities.
Badass capabilities with your job, but I totally get your anguish. I felt similar, which was why I took the wild west of field work over the dry desk jockying BS of the office.

I could, I never tried but you can model anything with that software.
I would have loved to take a luthiery class... But in the end I realized it's a field where artisans far more expert than I could ever be struggle to survive. It's hard times for stuff like that. Mass production has killed everything. I'd love to make some project as a hobbyist tho...
I never knew about luthiery until sometime in college. Or at least knew it as a profession, too bad it's hard to make money or I'd do the same.

One of these days when the work schedule starts lighten up I plan on making a few more test bodies to finalize some of my ideas.
To many ideas, not enough time...wish I had more time to learn about all these skills too.

Slightly better picture, I haven't put heavier strings on it or anything yet because a friend of mine might be buying it for his girlfriend. If I sell it the money will go towards new pickups and tuners for my Yamaha.
