I spruced up the synth rig today. Mmmmmm, glitches...
I am a cubicle dwelling CSR. I sell parts, answer tech questions, and get yelled at. Is what it is. Glad to be an old cruster, playing the back nine of life make me a whole lot less worried about stuff.
@oZZma : My first reaction was, "Wow, sounds like a pretty cool job." But if your heart's not in it, and your co-workers are irritating, it's going to be a grind. My wife does advertising art for a defense contractor in order to keep body and soul together. She doesn't feel great about it when the product is used to kill folks, even though that's really its intended purpose. So, having a job that really does make a difference in the world isn't a panacea.
I'm lucky that I do like my day job a lot. I support a high-end email security product. It allows you to do things to email that you plain shouldn't be able to do. I only support it, so basically people bring their screwed up problems to me, and I get to figure them out like puzzles. If they didn't tell me I had to do it for a certain number of hours each day, and I didn't have to deal with certain customers with really stupid questions, I'd probably do it for free. The weird part comes with the fact that the customers are really high end, and I read about my day at work on the BBC when I got home once. That was really strange.

You know how pointless does the whole world of "consummer goods" look to me? I find it offensive. And they are totally serious about those "ambient lights", and "iPad holders" (not generic poor man's tablet) and cupholders everywhere
let alone when I work on "luxury" cars. And you know I imagine the type of person who buys something like that. And he is someone I would punch in the face so HARD.like this
My mother comes from a country that was considered "poor" by westetners*, I won't go into politics about communism etc but they ALL had one of the 2-3 cars available, in the 3-4 colors available.
For schoolboys you had only 1 f.ing type of notebooks, and they were green. And there was no such thing like "brands", let alone "luxury brands". Everyone dressed practical and simple. And you know, life was HAPPY and people SMILED and you won't feel poor of frustrated because OMG my neibours car has 2 more cupholders than mine. Jeesus christ how pointless this whole world is.
*Now it's different, you'll see people with a Porsche and you'll see 80 years old homeless ladies picking food from the trash on the streets. It is considered an "emerging country" now. Ha ha ha jeeeesus.

Your writing here reminds me of George Carlin's stand up routines. This is tragic, but sorry, i laughed a bitI'm a 3d modeler so the B.S. I deal with is like the idiot trends in car dwsign and making it cool like this or that competitor etc and all those ridiculous high-end gadgets like ambient lights on the doors that they take in all seriousness and please move this line 1mm higher and make it more dynamic. Which I could not care less. I don't even own a car LOL.

I have to stay all day with headphones and music at 100dB on to prevent me from using a flamethrower when I hear all their unstoppable idiot "design" and "cars" smalltalk
I find this whole field grotesque, inherently leaning toward idiocy.
Because it's laughable indeed. Tragicomic. Carlin would have found something interesting to say about it

In "things I thought I wouldn't do again" bass news, I'm messaging someone about a SVT-215E. I didn't think I'd want a fridge sized amp/cab again - but it came up for sale, I seriously missed the sound of that 2X15 combo, and I was able to convince the better half by telling her "It'll live at the practice space". With any luck, it'll be mine later today. I'll just have to use the smaller cabs for gigs with stairs.

Its a hairball audio copper elements mic pre. Kind of a neve 1073 clone.
Well, got it. Built in St. Louis, pretty great condition for as old as it is. Nice guy who sold it to me also works in IT, and his company uses my product. I was able to torture the wife and the cat for a minute so I could make sure it works, and it was pretty damn sweet.
So, you're saying the cab is liable to teach my cat the basic tool usage necessary for its descendants to conquer spaceflight?
Because yeah, that's basically how I felt when giving it its first test run. Hopefully I'll have time to do more of that before I head into work tomorrow.
Edited to add: Damn, I love all the music used in that movie.
Is that a stock pickup? Really like how the finish looks. Reminds me of the northern lights kinda.
