Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Well I have off paid until Monday the 23rd... Things seem nuts though.

I may have posted this before but is anyone on here (or other members of your band) using effects to make noise / tie things together between songs or during tuning? I want something to make some noise / ambient sounds to avoid the awkward silence. Any ideas?
I'm not saying it's the right answer, but the first thing that came to mind for me was a bitcrusher. Things might get awkward, but it certainly won't be because of silence.

This is why, when playing bass or guitar, I run my freeze pedal before effects. I can have the freeze on a note and blend in whatever else to it for some downtime to tune or whatever.

We're playing with some synth pads and poopie for that very reason... some thoughts about using a queued track in-between drone stuff but i'm not sure i trust our singer to do it...

We've been playing with a midi synth and a small 4x8 midi keypad with glowy squishy light up buttons... Its really amusing but does require dragging a laptop. My friends in kook use a looper loaded with stuff and a moog synth... I kinda also want to get a boss syb1 for that reason as well.

'And so it came to be that at a time of great sadness, the masses cried out "Dio, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, we live in a time of great darkness. A plague walks the earth, that brings not only sickness, but fear, and discord. Bestow upon us a sign so that we will be lost in despair."'
'Upon hearing the lamentations of his flock, Dio sent forth his disciples, urging them to sing the words of their fathers, so that the masses would find hope again.'
'And in lifting their voices high to sing the words of their fathers, did the disciples help the grieving multitude find hope again.'

I just saw this on Bandcamp and came here to post about it! Really looking forward to this one. The only weird thing is there doesn't appear to be a pre-order option for digital download only on Bandcamp. I buy a lot of music through Bandcamp and I almost never see that. I wonder if they only want to put out physical releases...?

Edit: Turns out reading is an important skill after all... "PLEASE NOTE: Stand alone digital download sales are solely handled by Nuclear Blast Records / Khemmis."

One of my closest friends is the lead guitarist in Forming the Void, and I’m just curious if they’re on anyone’s radar here..

As a sidenote there a long time bassist was pretty basic and... Utilitarian.

He recently left the band and they have a pretty interesting and talented guy playing with them now, I’m curious to see how that affects the sound in the long term

Hell yeah, I'm a huge fan of theirs! Looking forward to the new album.
