Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I was listening in on a conference call with Cluster playing in the background and thought they sounded good together so I came up with this.
sooooo. This blackstar followed me home today... Running it stereo for now and its pretty silly. Adds some nice crunch and depth when run next to the TKO. Granted, I haven't gotten either past '1' before the walls start shaking but its sounds pretty good. I might let em rip a little tomorrow, but so far its pretty silly.
I can't wait for my guitar to get here, lol.

Thanks all! Funny enough there's no finish at all on it haha, just 15 or so years of funk from dragging it around. I didn't realize how beat up it was till I thought about painting it. Still solid though, just lots of character.
It's actually not too bad to make cabs. Really a lot of it is just practice learning and whatnot. Having the right tools makes it a ton easier, and that's what took so long to get the train rolling for me. Don't worry bout jacking things up either, I'll take close ups on all the mistakes, and walkthroughs etc. if anyone wants.

You encapsulate my issue with a toddler well - I have some serious thunder at my disposal - just can’t use it! I either need to give him his attention (as I should since he’s only 3) he’s sleeping, and I can’t crank anything. Trying to get used to my headphone rig, but it just isn’t the same as volume.
Bought another pedal today. Not doomy, but fun. MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe. Replaces my DOD Deep Freeze Bass Chorus. It’s a sad day. MXR is slowly taking over my board, even though I’m a huge DOD fan. Many of my utility or lesser used effects are becoming MXR. In the past week I’ve added the Bass Envelope Filter and Bass Chorus Deluxe. My main board now has the Noise Clamp, Smart Gate, Envelope Filter, Bass Chorus Deluxe, Bass Octave Deluxe, and I’m debating the Bass Compressor. Maybe I’ll just make separate DOD and MXR boards...

And here I was planning on stripping them and repainting them all in a paisley pattern. So they don’t clash with my sandals, socks, cargo shorts, Hawaiian shirt, and fedora (and Fodera!).
I can assure you, I do not have the money to go “full blues lawyer”. I’m buying these things lately because I’m finding them dirt cheap. The MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe was only $50! And it doesn’t exactly look “new”... Most of this stuff I’ve had for years and I’m just swapping and rediscovering them now that I have a little time on my hands.
More boards are always better. Skateboards, surfboards, pedalboards.

And yeah my two are 2 1/2 and 15months. I totally get what my parents were saying and doing all those years. One's teething and the other said screw naps and throws tantrums left and right. Only able to do stuff at the expense of my sleep.

New Elder album is kind of cool. an odd production choice but interesting songs. the vocals keep getting worse though. i prefered the vocal style on Dead Roots Stirring.

I'm totally with yall on the kiddo stuff. Mine is turning 9 soon and it can be a LOT. Now that he's older its a bit less insane, but when he was younger the only way I could go ride or do music or game was at the expense of sleep.
It'll get better, and even more awesome kiddo related memories will come along
A few small improvements on the MXR, but small is the keyword. Slightly more treble, bass control, and the X-Over option make it slightly more flexible. They likely sound identical in a mix, and I can definitely see anybody using either. Of the handful of choruses I’ve tried, they’re definitely my top 2. It’s also slightly more compact. The flanger option is decent too, though if you’re like me and want a faster chorus speed and lower flanger speed, it won’t do both without tweaking. But it can do a passable flanger in a pinch. I still prefer my old DOD Bass Flanger, though. Again, different settings and all.
As for more boards, I currently have 7 counting all bass and guitar boards. I have enough pedals for another...

I remember reading an old post on here where someone did an unintentionally hilarious write up on the mudbucker and said that to match that output a single coil would have to use magnets the size of quarter and weigh over a pound...
Hate amp issues. Fixed the hum on one of my amps, now my other (bigger and better) amp is starting to “fuzz out” slightly on some notes, and even occasionally completely cut out with sorts of electrical static noises. Think I’ve got it isolated to the power amp, but it probably needs a tech. No way I’m digging around in there. Guess it’s not bad, as I’ve never had to have it serviced. It think it’s 20ish years old, so a little tune up wouldn’t hurt I guess. Maybe it’ll improve the noise floor or something too. I hope so, at least. And I’m still waiting on my bass to be fixed since the world is on hold!
Oh shag me who do I need to start throwing at to make this as a 5 string and get it into my hands ASAP?
Make some sound clips of the stereo sound once you're able to crank it.
What's the story with the pre out to power in jumper? Cludge to fix a broken internal connection or secret tone sauce?
