Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

I like cats. Have had them most of my life. I like dogs as well. Birds, well, birds just don't do it for me. As most reptiles don't. I think they are cool, but don't want to have one as a pet. As I type this, I mentally run down the list of animals that could be potential pets, and I'm going to stay vanilla in my choices. We do have a horse, which, I consider to be a giant dog.

Well, having been a long time owner of the two, let me ask you: is she the type of person (you as well) that will be cool with having a 3-year old for 15 years? That's what a dog is. They need you. All the time. Unless they are sleeping. Cats on the other hand, will need less of your time, but the trade-off is they can be somewhat distant. Now, this all depends on the singular distinct personality of the animal. I happen to have two friendly, personable cats, who enjoy being up close and personal. It was nothing I did to make them that way. In fact, for the first 2-3 years we had her, one of them was just "the cat that lived our house." We couldn't get close to her. Now, she is a permanently attached heat-sucking slug whenever I sit or lay down.

Reminds me of an old joke:
"I'm a dog person, but my SO is a cat person. So we compromised. We got cats."

My wife is a lover of all animals and ran a cat rescue thru her 20s, we've been the zoo for awhile: cats, a dog, turtle, bunnies.

She's an animal whisperer and magnet. I dunno how many stray cats, injured birds, abandoned baby squirrels, etc have been through our house over the years.

I'm convinced that the robin that laid her eggs in our flower box outside our window was tipped off thru some animal communication network that this was totally the safest place around.

We moved from an apartment to a house like 3 months ago and there is constant talk about a pet. My wife had cats all her childhood, her sister is a vet and has a cat and a dog, and most of our friends have dogs. I, on the other hand, never had a pet in my life (except for roaches in an apartment I was renting) and having friends come over with a dog for a few hours is all I need for now. I didn't say no, bo there's still no yes from me neither. We'll see how it will eventually turn out.

I recommend a Dachshund. All the fun of a dog in the convenient size of a cat!

I appreciate the offer but I just got a DS1 included in a group of pedals I bought. Just wondering if modding it myself was worth the time. It is dope there are so many Denver folks on here!

Got nothing of note here in Saint Louis. A few local bands, none of which are amazing from what I’ve seen. Pretty generic “radio-friendly metal”. Not bad for that style, but not my thing. Know a couple of guys I used to play with who are in one of those bands. Good guys, not my musical cup of tea though. Brian Fair (of Shadows Fall) apparently has a local band here, but I don’t even know who they are...

On that note, the new BD album is pretty solid, I think. Im a little biased cause I got to know those dudes, but I think its good, especially at this point in their career.

FISTER! They're about the only thing in St Louis that I like.. that and this one hot chicken joint... and the arch is pretty rad. Chuck Berry rules too. Okay, st lou has a few things I like.

Well, having thought about this long and hard, I have come to the conclusion that the best readily-available anti-zombie weapon is a pitchfork with a 6 foot shaft.

Hear me out.

The tines can easily achieve zombie brain poking, it's pretty light weight, doesn't take a lot of time to master (hold stick. poke zombie in eye.), and has a long handle to keep said zombies far enough away so as to not give the coup de chomp.
