Yeah, I think that was when he started to really spiral down.Thanks for the laughs the last couple days. Things have been creeping toward the cliff in my house.kinda glad we got word we'll be back in the shop in a few weeks.
I watched a bit of that Jaco one, pretty good, cool too. Wasn't that when/after he started going off the rails?
He died in 1987, so the timeline fits.

Last night I was noodling around with my current pedal setup (Thick Air > HX Effects splitting the signal, with one path going > Dwarfcraft Necromancer) and getting some really mean sounds. I obviously have no idea how it would sound in a mix, but at least on its own it was sounding real nasty (in a good way).
For those of you more experienced than me (read: everyone), how do you assess the way you're going to sound in a mix when you're experimenting on your own?

Ever play a Sunn Beta Bass or a V-4B thru two 15's? It keeps up fine.

Good question @lucas303, idk trial and error. I naturally lean towards mid heavy but articulate or at least some punch and clarity. That normally gives me a good start, but it's all a crapshoot for me.
Maybe I just have real fond memories of that time but I dig the 80s/90s retro arcade look!
Can't help what ya don't like. I've never had a chance to crank one up. Was it just no volume or thickness?

I had a YBA 200-2 for awhile and really liked it. It was probably a mid 2000 model. However, the qualifier is that it had a quartet of Winged C 6550's in it.... and it sang like a... demon. I also had my british amp friend replace the preamp tubes as the voicing was a little nasally. I cant recall what he used but it was a vast improvement. It wasn't as ballsy on the low end as the SVT so it served as my back up. It was too nice to be banged around in the van and too big to be a back up, so I reluctantly let it go. But I really liked that sucker... the tubes were key. Dumb story. (ooh, it was a pretty sick guitar amp... we had to use it at a show when my guitarists carvin lost a tube, killed for us in that capacity)
yeah the new YBAs just lack punch, and lack thickness in the tone. the 200 sounded nice when you really turned it up but it would start to lose the low end and the treble would get harsh very quickly.
now the YBA-3 or YBA-1A are great bass amps. if you can find one.
Any recommendations on a nice phaser for stoner/doomy stuff that is a 125B sized enclosure with top-jacks?
I have the Chase Bliss Wombtone on my bigger board, but I'm trying to put a Nano or Nano+ together. So top jacks on this one would be pretty crucial. I had the EQD Grand Orbiter a while back, but wondering if there's anything else out there. I always wished the Grand Orbiter had a volume/output control...

you mean like this?
i got so tired of manufacturers not including volume controls on delays, phasers and filters that i just have them modded if i like the overall pedal. generally very easy to do as the all already have some sort of amplification circuit,they just need a pot to make the attenuation variable.
cusack tap-a-phase is good so is the hbe psilocybe if you can find them. the hbe would need to be modded for a volume control but that's easy to do. both are larger than 125b though.
tonewise though the EQD is great for doom. thick and gooey. just mod yours would be my reccomendation.

Yeah, I figured that would be the end result. Hoping I can make it next year and Yob is still planning to show up - there are a number of bands I wanted to see, but Yob and Mike playing in front of the Tetons was the driving force. We shall see...
^ Mama mia, kinda want.....but dumb to buy new amp right now with no band, too many amps, trying to move and cornfarmer jr. barely 2 weeks old.
I have had a tiny it of time to pay around with the Rubberneck Delay. So far I am loving it. The self oscillation and other weird noise capabilities are great.
Certainly great for weird noise! I’m rather liking it’s more pedestrian offerings as well. Seems to be a fantastic delay all around for me so far.
Yup, been trying to hold back myself.
In other news, on the wives suggestion I foregoed(?) working on the next prototype to build these. Just gotta hang em.
Not bad for a few hours and a free pallet.
